I think Froch is more proven than Dirrell and is a better win. But Dirrell would be the harder fight for the reasons you have stated.

 

Froch is the bigger name...

Andre Dirrell's resume is kinda bleak actually. Besides winning by getting KO'd by AA (or as some see it, pretending to be) he has beaten absolutely no one of note.

 

Even if the fight was against Klitshko in Ukraine ...some would have something to say.

Froch is a very good fight for Lucian especially in England

 

Dont think Dr. Shawhigh will let him fight Bute. :bart

 

Dirrell has no following and is a crybaby.

 

Dirrell would have been a strong opponent, indeed. My eyes recognize he is legit.

But last time I checked, he fought once in two years against ... (what is his name again?). His win before that was after he got KTFO. And he lost against the only top 10 SMW he fought. Plus he has no fan base (except from his friends and family). Plus, who would go to Detroit after the decision Dirrel made, while refusing going to Montreal.

Froch is way more recognized as a SMW. He his the S6 finalist. He has a lot fans around the world and in England, where Bute is fighting him.

Recognition wise, if it what we are talking about, the name, Froch and Dirrell are in two different planet.

Dirrell may looked good against Froch, but he lost against him. He may be good, but he definitely has no name and no recognition. Dirrell has no belt and never had one. Lets face it, Dirrell is a complete nobody. I don't even know why I wrote that stupid text while what I said is just too obvious to anybody.

 

A win over Froch will give Bute more recognition and credit.

Dirrell may well be the better fighter and the harder opponent, but his time out of the sport hasn't done him any good.

 

Dirrell is screwing up his career right now. He didn't want to make a come back fight unless it was televised. He didn't want to come to Montreal to face Bute. He has started his own promotional company. It took many years to Jean Bédard, who is a very good business man to learn the boxing how it works in the boxing world. The time his father learns (if he has the capacities), it will be too late for Dirrell. I don't know if he'll be able to fight at the elite level once again. Too bad, the guy has exceptional athletic abilities.

Although Dirrel is probably the more 'skilled' fighter. A win over Froch means far more than a win over Andre would.

 

And at the end of the day, he may be more skilled, but last time I checked Froch was 1-0 against him.
