    I really enjoyed this film.
    It's a fascinating culture.

It's weird - on the one hand, those guys with their pre-occupation with clan feuds and fighting are living as unsophiscated uncultured cavemen.
On the other hand, their sense and methods of settling these disputes and feuds with a "fair fight" is infinitely more civilized than the world I live in.
It's actually good old fashioned decency.

    :good

i thought it was pretty pathetic really . james quinn sounded and looked as though he wished he didn't have to bother with all the ****. a bunch of grown men trying to beat the **** out of each other coz 20 years ago someone made a bad comment about someone else or coz they'd swapped a few punches in a drunken brawl.
reminded me of the pitiful reason for the fight which ended up in firy's dad getting locked up. got the brains of a rocking horse as my old mum used to say....

Not so much a pub brawl, but rather two deaths. Agreed that quite a few expressed a desire to end it all. You'll always have thickos wanting to start it all up again :-(

Does anyone know if Paddy Doherty has actually had any organized fights? The closest I know of is when he challenged Dan Rooney, who declined.

Yeah, but I got the sense that they would have found something else to fight about anyway. They are from fighting tradition. Brainless maybe.

I agree, the reasons for the feuds are pathetic, and the continuation is mindless. But the methods were quite decent. There was a relative lack of bricks through the window at night, stabbings in the back, property being trashed, ten-on-one beatings, and threats to avenge murder with more murder, threats to the wife and kids, etc. .... the kind of stuff you'd expect if you got yourself into a "feud" with a local gang.

True and the fact no family members of the combatants are present and with two 'neutral' ref's they've certainly thought about how to make it as fair as possible.
