I think its a combo of things

By 03 04 Roy certainly wasnt young anymore a man of 35 who relied on reflexes and superhuman athleticism certainly will not look great as he ages

However I agree he was not done, when Jones became done is hard to pin point

Tarver was probably the best guy jones faced at 175 and probably faced him at the worst possible time, Jones a few years before would have been a different fight

Glen was another polished experienced great fighter, Roy looked bad but does the mean shot? he was coming off a big KO loss and foolishly picked a difficult puncher and may still have been recovering from the loss

He then won 3 in a row but he was getting hit more, Prince Adjamu and Hanshaw got more leather on him than i expected

Calzaghe was probably his last fight before being shot or he was shot going in

he was shot before Danny Green, his reflexes let him down as he kept his hand low to bait in Green and was no longer quick enough to dodge and counter like he would in his prime
