the people who want floyd to fight Cotto tomorrow are probably the same type of people who start wars. Meaning so quick to jump the gun but if you sit back and let things play out there is a better solution. In this case a ww unification bout.

That is exactly what people were saying when he fought DLH, then Hatton, Now Cotto. What next? Honestly he has proven himself, anything else is icing on the cake.

If Cotto gets the other belts and PBF unifies then it would do A LOT for his legacy. His career is pretty much HOF worthy. But if PBF fights cotto now, w/o cotto getting those belts it is just another big fight between a champ and a titlist. If cotto was to lose then people would jump off that band wagon faster than the PW band wagon (i abandoned that one myself:D )

No not at all. He needs to fight the no2 contender in his weight division. Not much to ask IMO.

Tell Cotto to go get some REAL wins::

Not beating Judah after a year layoff and 2 lossess..and lowblowing him.

And not damn near drawing wit a 36 year old Mosley.

    Beat Clottey...or Margarito..or Cintron...

Mosley (36 and 2 months) was fighting at 147 against Cotto. Who had just moved up a year before that to 147 into a fresh weight class.

Floyd fought DLH at 154, moving into his 5th weight class 5th weight class.

But since he wasn't even comparing like you were.

Cotto doesn't have a strong win on his resume.

His biggest wins are an old past his prime Mosley and a shot Judah (where he had to cheat)

We're kind of on the same page here, although I miht be a bit harder on Floyd in terms of legacy than you are, C.

I'd say Floyd, right now, is a legitimate first ballot HOF'er, and I'd have him in the Top 50 all-time. Not a slag against him, it's more just a case of other fighters doing a bit more based on the criteria that I use to create those lists.

But, in order to move up to that Top 30-20 position, he's going to have to do something more. Scoring a more convincing victory over Oscar will help a bit, but, then again, I think the Cotto fight would probably enhance his legacy even more at this point. It would certainly enhance his legacy at WW, too...and a victory would enable him to earn serious consideration for Top 20 status all-time at the weight.

But thats what makes great champions, they beat ALL competition during thier reign. As long as there are contenders that provoke question marks, and PBF can still fight, he must fight them and beat them to become an all time great.
