Oh sorry, I should've said: Pulver got KTFO by C-class Duane Ludwig in his prime. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-xc1zqx4go[/ame] Yeah, he'd cut a swathe through the best 155ers these days... ****ing idiot :smoke
Well.....I think he was a bit inconsistent.....that was probably his real problem...... Let´s put it this way then......the Pulver from the fights against Uno, BJ (first fight), Hallman.....
Yup, the same Ludwig that BJ handled in about a minute and that got destroyed by that dork Sammy Morgan from TUF2...
What are you saying Popkins! A Muay Thai world champion isnt as good on the ground as BJ Penn who respected his striking enough to take him down almost immediately... Get off Wiki for ****s sake
Yeah, I'm the one who's being stupid for daring to suggest that an early-mid 2000s lightweight who fought primarily as a striker and got KTFO by such elite fighters as Duane Ludwig and a green Joe Lauzon, would not be able to compete with the much bigger, more stronger, much more rounded, much more skilled 2012 generation like Ben Henderson, Frankie Edgar, Gilbert Melendez, Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis. You couldn't make up **** this ******ed!
That's why I said he'd be in the arse end of the 10 ten these days and Winfella rightly said that the Lauzon fight was no where near Jens being at his prime Keep making a fool of yourself Popkins
I always like your posts and opinions.....there is no reason to you be mad with this subject...I can´t see anyone but Barboza being able to beat Ludwig on a Stand up fight.....Ludwig was C-class at MMA, but not in Kickboxing, and Jens was just stupid to try to trade against him.... Edgar, Henderson, etc, as fighters are greater than him already, no doubt..... but Pulver at his best, 100% focused, like he was in the first BJ fight and in the Uno fight...wouldn´t be simply destroyed by others in my opinion...... Just what I think anyway.....
You just constantly make a rod for your own back , Jens Pulver in his prime was a superb world class mixed martial artist Just because Lauzon smoked him doesnt bear **** on **** , Duane Ludwig is a world level striker , people lose in MMA , period , it happens !!! Pulver was way ahead of his time back in the day , and if you threw a prime Jens Pulver into todays BW division , he'd give any of them a hell of a run for there money i happen to agree with everyone who states Pulver would have no business with the monsters @155 today , but below that (135 would be his weight class in this day and age) , he'd be relevant without a doubt
Yeah....the disadvantage in weight would be the biggest problem IMO......didn´t think about that when I was doing the thread title.....
Ben Henderson - Pulver loses Frankie Edgar - Pulver loses Gilbert Melendez - Pulver loses by KO Gray Maynard - Pulver loses by KO Jim Miller - Pulver gets submitted Clay Guida - Winnable fight Anthony Pettis - Pulver loses by decision/KO Michael Chandler - Pulver by knockout Nate Diaz - Pulver loses by Submission or KO/TKO He would beat guys like Eddie Alvarez and Joe Lauzon (lets face it, he got lucky)
MMAth doesn't really work when you consider GSP lost to Matt Serra. Pulver would be a competitive featherweight, I don't think he'd fight at LW these days.
Keep making a sandy-****ed *** of yourself Stoo. atsch If Duane Ludwig circa mid-2000s and a green Joe Lauzon could obliterate Jens Pulver, then even the mid-level UFC guys like Melvin Guillard, a more experienced Joe Lauzon, Clay Guida, Matt Wiman and Mark Bocek would be far too much for him. The sport has moved on. Jens is not big enough or well-rounded enough to compete in todays lightweight division, and if you think he'd be top 10 you're a dumb dick. :good
