Technique wise? The guys you watched and thought "Im stealing that for sparring" or was just a great great little trick that you looked out for later. In other words, who were the best technicians that just exuded technique in everything they did? Was it Moore, Charles, SRR, Duran, Louis etc.

To be honest not very many atg.. my favourite fighter around the timr I was fighting was jose luis castillo. His ability to cut off the ring and not get outboxed was a beauty. I tried the uppercut feint right hand morales does as well..

I don't box, but spar occasionally at the combat studio that I sometimes workout at.. Also when i was a kid I'd put on the gloves with friends from time to time.. Harold Brazier was a crafty fighter who had a style that I seemed to gravitate towards.

Beat me to it Vic........I also know there were a number of fighters (but Rocky Lockridge immediately comes to mind), who would focus on touching an opponent with a combination but usually finished up with something hard.

    Joe Louis

That's it, I mean I always try **** from other boxers, but Louis was perfection, his hand positioning was impeccable. He was always set to punch, and always threw his shots with utterly perfect teqhnique
There really isn't any need to look beyond him IMO

I ain't boxed since i was a teen but back when i was a kid in my first years boxing, Hagler was my hero so he is the only one i would've tried to emulate.

Not a bad fighter to learn from though Marvin.

    Body attack- Tony Zale

Jab- Archie Moore (a beautiful downwards chop), Kid McCoy (his corkscrew jab is a nice way to mix up your jabs)

Defense- Nicolino Locche, Pernell Whitaker, Teddy Yarosz (chin tucked into left shoulder), Moore (whose cross armed D I've used to confuse and it works great).

Feints- Bob Fitzsimmons. Make the opponent overcommit and then make him pay. Corbett doesn't fall for much of them in the film we have, but you can get a good breakdown of Fitz's feints in articles where the sportswriters analyze them like scientists. They work!

Overall- the Harry Greb of my mind's eye. I usually employ it against larger sparring partners(i'm a light-heavy). Bounce around your opponent and swarm light to medium power-level punches, keeping him off balance, on the defensive and unable to get set to unload his heavy artillery (if I throw any really hard shots it's to the body only). This attack mode makes the opponent tense and he tends to swing hard, wild and often in retaliation....which gasses him out. When he feels tired enough and is gasping for air, THEN step up the power level and start hitting with authority, especially to the body. Works like a charm.
