Damon Jones looked truly smooth........great range of punches and breezed it.

Slowey also......very smooth.....loved his southpaw right hooks.

Dont know how Paul Appleby got the decision tbh and i had a feeling he would come out gunslinging.....hence ma previous prediction.....though the stoppage never came.

Also.....too many hard fights....i did think the Walsh fight was a hard return but one that positives should be drawn from.......not so sure now.

John Thain took the 1st 2nd and 6th for me and won due to the knockdown in the first.....he had his man on ***** street but recovered well......Thain looked a bit flat maybe.....dunno.

Perhaps the cut which i couldnt make out too well from where i was sat played its part in this......

Simmons did well to stop Rasani and it was only tonight that i noticed how well he makes people miss (Rasani)

Whos decision was it to let Rasani walk from the ring to his changing room on chicken legs.......seriously........wtf.......that needs looking at.

    Burns........simply WOW !!!

His right hands to the head stepping right was truly smooth......and his inside work.....rather than do as he does so well and was also doing.......take them on gloves then work out and back to range via uppercuts and body shots.....he was also working inside with aggression...........just a cpl things i aint noticed before.....or have i ?

He absolutely controlled that fight in every direction and i aint gonna bother with the RBR and Mitchell yawnage.

Moses had some spiteful combinations and a decent workrate.....very sharp also......and he would give any decent Lightweight problems.

This is all of course seen from ringside and in the cold light of day......my opinion may probably differ when i have watched it on screen.

Cant say the Bruno timing was perfect.....early in the main undercard....all good eh.

The atmosphere came together quite well also.

    Anyways.

I never got there until half way through Thains fight, so by the time we had found our seats & got settled in, it was over. As for Apples? I thought he deserved it. Hurtful bodypunching throughout, & wasnt as gung-ho as normal, which is a good thing, hes maturing.

As for Ricky, IMO hes closing in on Buchanan faster than anyone could imagine, the lad has a great defence, is lightning fast & boxes smart as hell. Im pissed as a fart just now, but thought I would share some pissed thoughts after a fine night at the Braehead, cant believe since the last time I have been there they have swapped bar staff for booze machines! Im getting old:tired
Saw some guy walking around with a load of plastic tumblers filled with blue coloured stuff, whatever happened to good old fashioned lager? Thank **** I had sneaked in my trusty hip flask of vodka through the 'body searches' at the entrance, body search being some uninterested guy patting my ribs half-heartedly, great security at the Braehead as usual:D
I had a great night though, especially watching Rickster shut out yet another world class operator who was rated above him in the world rankings, massive credit to Ricky & Billy Nelson for keeping scottish boxing alive & well:thumbsup

Its a pissed post, so be gentle with my drunken thoughts:good

Nice post and yeah i was surprised at the lacklustre bodychecks.....tickled ma pits.

Dunno how tipsy you were at this stage (straight here/there) but that Ormond was giving him 'mares and seeing Powell being what i thought overly friendly before and after the fight and before the decision.....and call me paranoid......i thought he had already lined up his next fight (Ormonds)

    I saw plently slinging........and i didnt see much jabbing......maybe that wasnt the plan.....maybe i need glasses....dunno.

    Hipflask of vodka....straight ?

Those Q's for pints was mental.....and ayes the vending machines were new to me too.

Ricky truly is adding to his arsenal.......something else eh.

Glad ya had a good night.....and the wimmenz down here are simply.....

    :love :love :love

My mate got me a ticket at the last minute wallet, I was on some other thread talking about it the other day, funny thing is, ****** talks about the fight with Mitchell like its a reward for Rickys ring accomplishments, an away fight in a football stadium full of Mitchells fans:patsch

maybe its just plain fellow Londoner favouritism from Frank, but I dont get what Mitchell has done compared to Burns to be treated like the star of the show... I always remember Frank saying that he considered Mitchell the London Hatton, but Rickys getting very popular up here, selling out the Braehead? Last fight that done that I believe was Scott Harrison-Wayne Mccullough, & McCullough was a household name compared to Moses.
I suppose though that a Burns Mitchell scrap in London will make big bucks, & thats the bottom line. I have to remember that Frank has got Ricky where hes at, so cannot moan TOO much, but i do think they should strike whilst the Ricky Burns iron is hot, as opposed to tread water domestic showdowns.

    Still utterly drunk btw:lol:

Cheers HH my good man, actually wa sthinking about you at the fight, wondering where you & the rest of my ESB homies were sitting:D As for the hip flask? straight vodka, too small to fit some coke in, but I didnt have the money to hit the beer machines, so drastic times call for drastic measures! The apples/ormond fight though I thought Apples fought a controlled fight, ormond was throwing losts of leather, but too much "shoeshining" punches to quote the great Teddy Atlas, he was busy, but not enough effective aggression. He actually reminded me of a young Appleby, thinking he could just out-throw & outpunch a guy to victory. Apples-Lyndsay style immediately springs to mind.

I was too far back to see what the trainers were upto, & Im posting on fumes just now, so dont be harsh on 'ol dunk:good

PS, Ricky goes from strength to strength, the lad is turning into the complete fighter. Only time I was worried was when Ricky seemed a bit too eager for the KO near the end, cos when you mix at the highest level, KO's are a bonus. Never chase them.

That was the only flaw in Rickys performance that I can think of.

Simmons has British ptential but he needs to tighten up the defence. To easy to ht as he is too gung ho. SParred him, strong as an ox, fit as ****, great left to the body but relatively easy to lan d on him. Too much for anyoe at domestic level though.

there was over a stone advantage to Ransani in that fight! I thought Simmons did well to keep on him and it was a good opponent for his first 6 rounder

Apps didnt win that fight in my opnion, always thought that Ormond would have win that, appleby hasent really changed alwasys gets drawn into trading dosent seem to used his footwork or move his head etc ,and i would love to see a rematch thought

I was so imPressed with Ricky burns smart effective boxing last night, I was expecting a close fought thing but he looked that comfortable in there the whole fight. We had great seats but one thing I'll say about the useless security ... Clocked a guy with his sleeve ripped off who had clearly been in a scrap and they ushered him and his mates up the stairs to where the guys he had been fighting with were.

So of course it all kicks off again, then some arsehole throws a glass of beer from the back of the stand at them that soaks the lad who was sitting beside me. Then seen the guys that were fighting all lined up waiting outside the KFC after the fight to kick off again.

Useless security ... But we had a great night. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, on my phone right now

Nice to see you had a good night HH and rest of you lads.

Rasani came here with 2 losses IIRC what Buncey said, challenging for commonwealth title now 10 years on he has 66 losses and looked out of shape last night. Time to be looked at and monitored.

Appleby your right Alba i saw no change in his work last night, Ormond beat him on inside work and being ring general. Appleby's jab wasn't crisp and he just couldn't hold centre ring. The left hook to the body that hurt Ormond swung the fight and gave him some success but not enough in my book.

Simmons looked decent, the cruiserweight division is seriously lacking talent so he could make a push for domestic honors. Thain well never saw it but i trust my man HH and it seems like the kid needs more fights and tests maybe he's not feeling challenged.

Callum Johnson looked very impressive, although i'm not sure how long he can carry off that hands down style against better oppo he landed lovely shots and kept his posture in finishing Tolan.

Ricky boxed beautifully for first half of fight, tired a little probably due to Moses pressure being decent and punching hard but Ricky kept working away. He may not be 'elite' but he's a very good world champion. I don't see what Mitchell does that can beat Ricky.

Ricky's a natural boxer with solid fundamentals, Mitchell's a decent boxer but he's not natural to it you can see he tries his upmost. I'd favor Burns to win on points if this fight's made.

I was glad Crolla didn't get that fight last night, he'd have no chance of beating Burns at this point in his career. He's still developing and needs to work way up.

    Finally..

    Bruno be a G!

Thain fight looked very tight to me but glad he came through. Simmons boxed very well and deserved the late ko. I had Apps winning that fight by 2 due to the point deduction, always exciting fights with him. I must admit, maybe due to drink, that I gave Moses a few rounds and prob had it a little tighter than everyone else in the world apparently lol but was another good performance.

tha were to the left of me,the guy with the ripped shirt got moved to the ground seats but was on his phone constnatly then left midway through the burns fight... i dont see the point of paying for tickets if your just going to not watch the fight???

i was surprised i thought it would be wall to wall with zoomers ,but it wasent that bad compared to what ive seen before...

couldnae be arsed with the whole "Sideshow Bruno" thought he was disrespectufl coming in through a fight tbh
