Gotta' agree with the OP. Give me Vitali-Mormek any day! (now where's the emoticon for "just shoot me in the head" ?)
You are an idiot for calling them bums and need to stop watching boxing. When two boxers give it their all in the ring they are never bums. This is like Ward and Gatti. Neither guy are elite by any boxing fan's imagination but when they fought they gave it their heart and soul. Salido and Lopez did the same thing. This fight had it all. Salido dominated the fight but took a serious punch in rnd 5 and was saved from further punishment or another knock down by the bell. Lopez abandoning the his plan to box and brawl instead. The knock down at the end.... Seriously, what more can you ask for?
technically they're both beyond flawed and stand little chance vs someone with a good technical skill set and decent chin but it ain't the level of the fighters that make a great fight it's the style clash and these 2 will produce fireworks 10/10 as long as they're not shot or equally shot. if you can't enjoy a great fight between b, c and even d level fighters than i feel bad for you cause you're missing out on some of the best fights ever despite the skillsets lacking.
I may just be jaded from all the faces of death and bum fight dvds i use to watch along with all the mma and boxing i have watched over the years. But this type of fight just dose not do it for any more. I don't think that it so much that they are b and c fighters alone that makes me not like but it how those b and c fighters preformed combine with their potential performance that make this fight meh for me. I mean we had defensively flawed, high work rate, bangers, in the Anglo v Kirkland fight and they have not proven them selfs to be elite fighters yet but i thoroughly enjoyed their fight and can watch it again and again because as a fight there was a lot of things to look at as far as head movement, defense, shots thrown, etc. But most importantly both fighters where there to fight and both fighters fought as them selfs. They may be flawed at a lot of things but they did their best. Lopez didn't bring it because of fear and poor technique and Salido brought every thing he had against a scared fighter with poor technique and both looked poor while doing it. While this is no where near a Hopkins Dawson or Mosley Mora i personally don't feel it's near a Anglo Kirkland or Maidana Khan. But this year is just starting so we will see how this fight fits into the rest of this years candidates. The one supremely complementary thing i can say for these two is at least they actually fought in the ring. Which is becoming a rare thing in boxing.
i get ya here, although Juanma showed a tremendous chin he fought scared fosho and did a horrible job at defensive boxing and countering... his best bet would have been to try and bomb salido out in the first few rounds but he spent the first few rounds running away with memories of the first fight fresh in his head.
I don't think it is fair to call either fighter as Salido managed to both floor and go 12 with Gamboa. Juan Ma on the other hand is no bum either. By the way that fight could very well be fight of the year....
What did you think of Broner PDL, how many bums were in the ring that night? Someone mentioned Gatti Ward. Not really, Lopez was Ring's top 10 for a while, ranked 1 in 2 divs. Gatti never did that. Ward never won a world title, Salido had 2. No one beats Salido with ease, not JMM, not Gamboa or Guerrero. Pretty good for a class C fighter. And LOL at Angulo having anything on these guys. He was a punching bag after round 1, there was no suspense.
If Angulo was a punching bag because of bad strategy. Then Lopez was a reflex bag for 6 or 7 rounds he just moved back and forward (mostly back) in a predictable fashion as his head was bobled back and forth by hooks and right hands because of a terrible game plan and what worst is Lopez looked ******ed trying to pull his game plan off. His Philly shells reminds me of that gif of Nacho Beristain showing how Floyd blocks.
It probally would have made the fight much better, he would probably been able to block punches a little better if he started out that way and maybe he would have stop amateurishly dropping his hands so much if he had to keep them up by his face.
no slickness at all. how the hell can you enjoy that? c level fighters like these two shouldn't even fight. nobody does it better than money and moneyteam. money is boxing.
