Is Floyd's amazing ability and achievements in Boxing so good...

... that he can make whatever demands he wants and hold the Boxing fraternity and the fans to ransom?

I make no apologies for making this thread because having now seen the NBC interview and heard his latest outbursts, I'm now feeling like Mayweather is becoming a hindrance to Boxing. I have said in previous posts I want both Pacquiao & Mayweather to retire because as long as they're around and not fighting each other it takes away from the positive stuff that's promoting this great sport.

I guess this is at the Mayweather fans; how come he's allowed to make the demands he is against Pacquiao to such an extent that both camps can't agree to the fight? Why is he allowed to be stubborn with the purse split? Its the hardest fight yet the most lucrative; ALL boxing fans would hold him in high esteem if he does make it; He's the favourite all experts and majority of fans opinions, and admits he doesn't see himself losing - he holds all the cards, yet won't yield to a deal which will make the fight.

If he retires and doesn't fight Pacquiao, the fans WILL hold him responsible (with Pacquiao) and he'll forever be tarnished. Surely all Mayweather fans want this fight at any cost just to shut the anti-Mayweather brigade up?

from 5 minutes into the video (sorry I'm uk based so I see nbc sign I call it nbc). Its nothing thats already been mentioned in earlier threads.

 

IMO he's an ATG. Very few fighters can compare skillwise, none can compare when you combine this with his unbeaten record. He has it all no doubt.

But I say Pacquiao is an ATG as well, and his fights at the lower weights against the amazing trio of mexicans beats any Mayweather opponent in quality IMO. As limited as he is skillwise in comparison to Mayweather , he's been dominant against opponents when being the underdog. Marquez has his number, but styles make fights and I'll give him that allowance.

I'm all for Mayweather creating a stir and bringing controversy, but it has to be offset by action. How long has he been saying he will beat Pacquiao if they ever fought? How long has he said "All roads lead to Floyd Mayweather" and then dodge questions when it came to making a fight with a potentially dangerous opponent?

And in terms of crossover appeal - I think that if the vacuum is made by them both retiring I feel its an opportunity for every other boxer to come and fight for that mantle. But there's plenty of boxers I feel who would give a good crack at it. Boxing doesn't stop if these two go away.
