BILLY Dib is aiming for a blockbuster title unification bout against Orlando Salido just days after defending his IBF featherweight world title.Dib, 26, was punishing in his mandatory title defence against challenger Eduardo Escobedo, with the Mexican stopping the fight after the sixth round in Hobart last week.
The win catapulted Dib on to the world stage, alleviating any doubts for his much-sought after US fan base that he can punch with the best in the world.
"I wanted to make a statement," Dib said. "I made a very creditable Mexican quit.
"People said this was going to be a difficult fight for me but I proved that it was a good one.
"I did exactly what I wanted."
Dib watched closely as Salido, another Mexican, defended his WBO featherweight title against Juan Manuel Lopez with a 10th round technical knockout victory in Puerto Rico on Sunday.
Now with both world champions having defended their belts recently, a unification showdown is on the cards.
"It would be a good fight for me," Dib said. "I feel like the next step in making history is getting on the plane and going overseas to make a statement.
"I don't want to leave it too late."
Dib's camp will meet with leading boxing promoter Top Rank Boxing in the coming days to discuss his next move.
A voluntary defence in Australia before a unification fight in US now shapes as a possibility.

I like Billy Dib. He is a little raw but he has movement and that will make the fight interesting.

He does have a style reminds me of a mini Maidana, but doesn't exactly have the pop in his punches, but the guy fouls way too much. Nothing special about Escobedo fights nothing like a Mexican has a Marquez-wannabe style without the speed, power, or timing behind his punches. Dib already lost to a soft punching Mexican American. His style would be tailor made for Salido. Besides exceptional boxing Salidos bread and butter is pressure fighting. Dibs would get stopped for the first time in his career, but it'd be fun while it lasts.
