Seems like a weird match up..wasn't Mayorga just fighting at over 160?
Isn't Cotto fighting Gomez? If Mayorga and Cotto do fight, will it be at 147 or 154? Other than these questions, the fact is Cotto beats Mayorga to the punch all night, answers Ricardo's swings with precision counters and generally outboxes and busts up that crazy Nicaraguan all night long.
The only problem I see for Miguel is if the fight is at 154, that would be one factor in favor of Mayorga. Not enough for Ricardo to win, but it would make things a bit more difficult for Cotto.

Not sure what weight class it would be...I think Mayorga would be challenging Cotto for his WBA Welterweight Title.

The match-up would be contingent upon Cotto defeating Gomez...

I think that Mayorga could give Cotto some fits...He's a wild puncher, with big power in both hands, and if the Cotto who fought Forrest showed up (although I doubt he even exists anymore), Cotto would be in biggggg trouble...

Mayorga could pose some problems for Cotto early on much like Torres did and might even score a knock down. But I expect Cotto to outclass him the second half of the fight and win by UD.
BTW what weight would this fight take place at Mayorga can't make 147 anymore.

It's a preliminary agreement according to Mayorga. The info came from the FIGHT site that gives NEWS. It doesn't specify a weight, but mentions Cotto's 147 title...

I wouldn't bet on Mayorga by any means, but I think this is a big threat to Cotto...

Mayorga is no joke, and when he's on his game (or gets lucky), he can beat anyone. I just wish Mayorga hadn't gone up in weight and gotten knocked senseless by Trinidad. If he stayed at 147 or even 154, this may have been a whole different match-up...

Mayorga swears he can get back down to 147.

Cotto by KO - Mayorga will be weight drained and have nothing in his tank.

He's just looking for the biggest paid day he can find.

If Mayorga can actually starve down to 147 I can't see him holding up under Cotto's body attack. His only chance would be to land ton of bombs in the 1st 3 rounds. I'm talking about power punches in combos.

Why can't he do what he did to Forrest??? If Mayorga can make 147 in decent shape, he has the POWER and BALLS to back up Cotto. If he can back up Cotto, he's got the wild style to land a big punch.

Imagine Mayorga sticking out his chin and eating a left hook....hahaha...I love that crazy *******!

People who think cotto is going to run over mayorga crack me up lol...

Mayorga will win the first half..... maybe a bit less, cotto will win the last half, and more impressively.

    That is my head

My heart says, as much as i like cotto..... i hope mayorga knocks him out, or at least knocks him down enough to make it impossible for cotto to win on points.... and i think he can.

Torres is nothing but a poor mans Mayorga lol...
