Actually, I think it's pretty close.

In his prime, Liston never lost against mediocre opponents like Corrie Sanders or Lamon Brewster. He only lost against Ali. And Liston beat Floyd Patterson, a better win than anyone in Wlad's resume.

However, Wlad has been dominant during 6 years, 11 title defenses, and that definitely counts for something. Wlad beat more Top10 contenders during his career.

    Who ranks higher?

Steward said prime Liston (late-50s) was the best HW he's ever seen. Just sayin'.

But i got a soft spot for him FH. I've already took him out of my top ten in recent times , i ain't going any further.

He was a beast of a fighter, with a great jab who i love to watch. Foreman and Ali both can't be wrong about him.

Liston. Cleveland Williams and Patterson are better wins than any of Wlad's.

Liston lost against no names Leotis Martin and Marty Marshall. and he only had 1 title defence.

Wladimir has dominated his era way more effectively, has more title defenses and has overall beaten more top fighters..

This happened when he was way past-Prime. Wlad got brutally and embarrassingly stopped by average fighters three times during his Prime.

Wlad has never beaten anybody as good as Cleveland Williams or Floyd Patterson. His resume is filled with nobodies and fat slobs.

    I think you're being a bit harsh..
Williams and Patterson can with no doubt match some of Wladimir's best wins, but Wladimir has been more consistent, he has beaten several top fighters through his long career, where he has been relevant pretty much through the entire journey, where Ali ruined Liston's reign and future..
If Ali wasn't there to stop Liston, or if Liston fought in a weaker era, then he maybe could have had a resume that could match Wlad's..
