How big would a De La Hoya come back be?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by boxingfanatix, Mar 16, 2012.

  1. Let's say De La Hoya announced he was fighting again at the end of the year and against a game opponent like let's say Kirkland or Quillin. How big would that be? PPV numbers? 24/7?

  6. Let's be real, I think it would be huge. Considering all the drama that De La Hoya went through the past couple of years, it would make a good 24/7 and this country does love a comeback.

It would be for Mayweather and he would get beat even worse that the first time but it would be the biggest fight ever

It would be a big deal... He would probably say he's refocused, rejuvenated and rededicated to the sport of boxing. He would say he overcame his drug problem and he's ready to make waves again in the sport... Then he would go out and lose badly! :deal

Sure. How about de la hoya vs Vargas II at 168 or Oscar vs Tito II at 168.

Yes he's way past his better days but it would sell regardless of the opponent. Would it be worth it? Who knows. But people would buy it. Oscar vs. sugar III.

it would be a big press event, but no one would really think he would really have a great comeback.

It would be huge. But in the end it probably hurt boxing even more, due to the fact that he rodent have it anymore. He's done.

He would make alot of money if he came back, if he was I would expect to see vs Mosley III and if he managed to win vs Mayweather II

Not very. He hasn't boxed in years and most knowledgable people would recognise he would get his ass handed to him.
