I would favor him over Darcy, Steele and Apostoli.
Walker, LaMotta, Zale and Griffith to be close but i would favor them.
The others i would have as fairly strong favorites.

Martinez is over rated. In fact I not sure if he is the best middle weight today. I would say Martinez looses six of ten here.

Arguably a little bit in P4P ratings.

He is the best middleweight today.

It's just there are a couple of middleweights who can threaten his supremacy.

But there's a little chance Martinez will fight them.

Barker needs to beat a ranked opponent for him to look like a good victory.

Means not that much until then.

A couple more against macklin type opponents would mean a lot though.

No, both are just above average. Sturm is a Euro-level operator himself. What next, Martin Murray?

    Perhaps in your opinion.

In mine, sturm has been a top 5 mw for about 6 years now. I felt macklin beat him. Matt himself was a top 5 mw.

I'd prefer sturm, geale or chavez next to be honest.

I would settle for murray though. He's a ranked opponent based on his showing vs sturm.

My only issue is barker because he went somewhat inactive, seemed like a flash in the pan and lost when he stepped up. He needs to prove himself still imo but unfortunately it sounds like the pirog fight won't be happening.

i took at 5 to beat him but it could easily be 8 or 9. he's a decent puncher so i wont count him out against anyone.
i would like geale vs someone decent then martinez v geale.

No. He'd be a bigger MW then than he is now.

    Les Darcy
    Mickey Walker
    Freddie Steele
    Fred Apostoli
    Tony Zale
    Jake La Motta
    Ray Robinson
    Emile Griffith
    Carlos Monzon
    Marvin Hagler
    Michael Nunn
    Bernard Hopkins

Let´s say he face every single name in that list......I really don´t think he wouldn´t beat nobody.......he would get one or two upsets in this run...
Honestly, I can see Martinez win one fight in a series of three with MW Hopkins.....maybe he would be able to beat Zale, but I really wouldn´t put any money on that.....

Yes Lester.....but I also think that even Hopkins pre-Taylor would have some trouble with Sergio´s speed....

Three picks i'm definitely happy with.

    He beats la motta.
He loses to apostoli and robinson.

Jake will in his face throughout but doesn't have the power necessary to knock martinez out imo. Jake will consistently walk into straight rights and whilst his chin will take the shots, he's gonna have very little chance of winning any rounds. Martinez has shown he can step up a gear late on so stamina and pace won't be an issue.

Apostoli was very good at fighting the way we saw macklin fight martinez, with more aggression and better movement. I had it even after ten and given macklin's success and apostoli's superiority I can easily imagine fred slipping a straight left, landing a big combination. Matt's probably the best guy with head movement martinez has faced and he came close to the upset so I think apostoli winning a decision is a fairly likely outcome.

Robinson is the perfect fighter pretty much and he'll have too much of everything for martinez. He soundly out boxes him to a decision.

Jake could well win plenty of rounds with his aggressive jabbing and infighting. It's not like Martinez is an offensive force near the level of Robinson. He's dropped plenty rounds throughout his career against awkward aggressors.

Macklin's an honest euro level pro with only a limited amount of ability, if you are toiling with his aggression it's a safe bet Lamotta is going to **** you up.Especially on the inside, if you're a small middle without much infighting skill it could get ugly.

imo Apostoli wasn't nearly as good as Lamotta at his best.

LaMotta would push Martinez's **** all the way in.
