Floyd is a god. Manny saw Floyd in his dreams and then Manny is talking about retirement. Obviously it isn't the real god Manny saw because that god told him to wear the right socks against JMM.

Johnston- well Floyd beat Castillo twice and Castillo beat Johnston

Kostya T- wasnt he injured and out of boxing for over a yr while Floyd was at 140 and then lost to Hatton

Prime Mosley- wasnt Mosley at 154 by the time Floyd was at 135 or 140, by the time he got to 147 Mosley had lost to Winky twice and ppl began to doubt him, Floyds timing of Mosley was fine since he was coming off the big win and had the lineage

Cotto/ Margo- he retired they fought each other plus Williams, plus Cintron, plus Quintana, and Mosley came out on top and Floyd beat Mosley

Anybody who claims Floyd ducked Tzyu is an idiot. I already killed this myth:

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=379241

Cut that out. That whole myth is complete bullship. There are multiple reasons why this fight didn't come off. Just because a fight didn't happen, doesn't mean it was Floyd ducking. :nono

Floyd has wanted this fight for the longest. He was calling out Zoo before he was even at 140 pounds. One big reason the fight didn't get made was because of Floyd's contract with HBO and Zoo's contract with Showtime. The two networks don't have their fighters fight except for big fights, and this wasn't considered one at the time.

I can bring you muliple quotes of Floyd saying he wanted the fight. Can anybody bring me one from Kostya mentioning Floyd? This whole myth is nonsense. Plus lets look at the timeline:

Kostya fought Jesse James Leija 01-19-2003
    Floyd fought N'Dou 11-01-2003 (Floyd's last fight at 135)
Kostya fight with Mitchell postponed because of shoulder injury 2-7-2004
Floyd fought Demarcus Corley 05-22-2004 (first fight at 140)
Kostya fought Sharmba Mitchell 11-06-2004 (after postponement from injury)
Kostya loses to Ricky Hatton 06-04-2005 (In mandatory defense. Retires afterward)
Floyd fought Henry Bruseles 01-22-2005 (coming off longest layoff of career at the time)

Now tell me, when would this fight have tooken place?

And Lance before you come on this thread talking ship, you should read your own post

No, I would argue that he tried to fight the very best as his first option and when that wasn't possible he fought with his wallet in mind.

After all, he tried to get a fight with Shane Mosley in 1999 and 2006. Shane declined twice. In 1999 he declined because Shane wanted De la Hoya. Fair enough. He got the fight and beat Oscar legitimately and then became mainstream. In 2006, the Vargas years; Shane claimed he wanted a vacation after the 2nd fight where he KO'd Fernando Vargas. Back then Shane still had the upper hand and was still the bigger draw.

He tried to get a fight with Kotsya Tszyu in 2005 but Tszyu's camp saw bigger money in Hatton and because he wasn't tied to HBO like Mayweather was it was an easier fight to make. So they went with Hatton and Mayweather went with Gatti and it was decided that the winner faces each other.

Immediately after the Gatti fight Floyd tried to get a fight with Cotto or Hatton who was fresh of his stoppage victory for Kostya Tszyu. Cotto and Hatton were both sitting ringside when Floyd destroyed Arturo Gatti and neither of them were willing to step in the ring with Floyd without a few more fights under their belt. Arum didn't see the logic in a Mayweather Cotto fight and suggested that it was 'premature.'

So he tries to get a fight with Winky Wright after he beat Arturo Gatti; Winky and his handlers refused anything less than a 50/50 split. Floyd was still a Bob Arum fighter at that point and Winky was a Gary Shaw fighter. Neither wanted to budge in the negotiating table. Floyd who was still at 140 was ready to come up to 160 to fight Winky but money prevented this fight from happening.

Incidentally Gary Shaw is the same guy who advised Winky to turn down Oscar De la Hoya's offer for $6 million in guaranteed money plus $6 for every PPV buy over 600K. It should be noted that Winky has never gotten an offer that lucrative from anybody since.

    http://www.sptimes.com/2005/07/26/Sports/Wright_vs_Mayweather_.shtml

So when Floyd Mayweather was up for renewal of his contract his national profile was rising and he wanted big money fights. So Arum wanted to throw him in there with Margarito and give him $8 million for his trouble but that fight would come with strings.

But Mayweather also wanted to fight:

    Cotto for $10,000,00.00
    Hatton for $10,000,000.00
De la Hoya for a $20,000.000.00

Arum rejected Mayweather's proposals saying that he'd get:

    $8 million for Margarito
    $7 million for Cotto
    $7 million for Hatton

The De la Hoya fight was simply out of the question.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2420382

So what did Floyd do? Bought out his contract from Arum for $750K and fought Baldomir for $8,000,001.00

    De la Hoya for $25,000,000.00
    Hatton for $20,000,000.00
    Marquez for $15,000,000.00
    Mosley for $22,5000,000.00
    Ortiz for $25,000,000.00

De la Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley and Ortiz are all Golden Boy Fighters.

Margarito, Cotto, Clottey and Pacquiao are all Top Rank Fighters.

    Coincidence? Not likely.

    Ducking? You tell me.

Floyd's decisions were financially motivated but his first instinct was to always seek a challenge.

That poster is riding Floyd's dick to the fullest. All he posts on is Floyd is this and Floyd is that etc...

He should try watching other fighters. I am assuming he is Filipino based on his posts. Over there Pacquiao is looked at as a god such as how N. Koreans must look at their emperor.:patsch

Floyd's resume will always be critiqued, IMO justifiably. Seemingly every time there was a perceived major challenge, the fight never worked out. I'm not naive enough to think this is 100% Mayweather's fault, nor do I think that he couldn't have done more to ensure his legacy.

its a disgrace that Mayweather says he is the greatest. he ducked Cotto, margarito, Paul Williams a PRIME Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Pacquiao, and earlier the prime, dangerous southpaw Casamayor, a prime Mosley, and you can add other guys to that list if you want cause basically the list never ends.
thats why I laugh about all the fl0mos on this forum, cause they are clowns, just like the Klitschko haters
