As a keen boxing reader and amateur historian :hey I enjoy reading about previous great battles of yesteryear some of the scandals and the background to certain fights that were not only significant in boxing but in wider culture.

As boxing fans we often read and re read about the same fights or events in boxing and analyse them and their impact on the sport and enjoy their iconic significance.

Johnson v Jeffries, (The Long Count) Dempsey v Tunney 2, Frankie Carbo, Louis v Schmeling 2, The Fight of the Century, The Thrilla in Manilla, The Rumble in the Jungle, No Mas,Pre Douglas Tyson, Post Douglas Tyson.

Those are just a few there are plenty of events from each decade that people enjoy debating and reliving over again. Debating their possible effects outcomes and significance in boxing history.

What events of the past 10 years or so do you think will be talked about in the same breath as some of the events mentioned above and what will be said?

    Harrison-Williams I.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lewis-Vitali was fondly looked back on in a similar manner, not to the same degree though.

    Castillo-Corrales I.

Within the last ten years or so.

For all the great fights there have been over the last ten years it regularly gets voted the best, and by a landslide majority in most cases.

    Possibly the greatest fight ever.

You only get an ending like that in a movie, its not meant to happen in real life.

Great shout thats definitely going to be one that has gone down in the ages. I think people will certainly be talking about it for a long time and youtube certainly has helped :good

I think great fights will always speak for themselves. But are there any talking points in fights Taylor v Chavez stoppage, No Mas in that vein?

The Pacqiuao-Marquez fights will be the 'great debate' fights of this era IMO.

They certainly have the potential for a good ol' debate but i cant help but think for some reason that controversial/close decisions kinda get overlooked on the whole in the classical debate. Especially if we are talking about a great such as Pac it just seems to get swept under the carpet.

Some decent British ones in there definitely some night that will be remembered I think people have forgotten about Froch Pascal already tbh weirdly rarely gets mentioned and it was a cracking scrap.

Pavlik Taylor I dont think will stand the test of time neither have proven to be anything special really.

Yeah but the classics of the past didn't happen in the Internet era. Pacqiuao-Marquez and the debate around it has been widely debated, so I think people will remember the debates and the controversy rather than reading about it back in the day ;-)

I'd love to see JMM-Diaz I commended as the classic it is.

Floyd Vs Ricky, like it or not, was one of the big fights of the last era. The hype was huge, regardless of whether you thought Ricky would win.

The Marquez/Vazquez trilogy (yes, TRILOGY!) should go down as one of the greatest series of fights in history.

Maybe not the fight as a whole but definitely that second round when Shane almost put Floyd to sleep.
