Who was surprised when Floyd was throwing combinations in the 4th vs Ortiz?

You probably need to watch more of his bouts then.

He threw plenty against Hatton. And on occasion against DLH.

    Show me some?

I'd say never more than 3 punches at a time. but 95% of the time it would be just 1 or 2 shots at a time.

I'm not saying it's bad. It works for him better and he appears more dominant than in the early days when he used to get hit alot more.

    He threw some against Mosely

he wobbled Ortiz badly with a combo in the 4th, looked like he was ready to go

2 or more shots is classed as a combination.

Mayweather and De La Hoya gifs are about somewhere, he didn't open up as much against DLH...but he did rip him with head/body combinations on occasion.

I expected him to be aggresive, but not to open up and throw combo's that early against the massive, hard hitting south paw, Mayweather had no respect for Ortiz, I would love to see the beating that Ortiz would have continued to get, if he didnt get sucker punched and quit.

I've seen most of them. He's never been much of a combination puncher, even at the lower weights. He's opened up every now and then, usually when he's got a guy hurt , otherwise he throws potshots for the most part.

That to me seemed like a statement fight

he was throwing the right early immediately was trying to take command usually he feels you out early

you could tell he was looking to do something big

the KO at the end was his way of punishing Victor and reminding everyone not to **** with him

KO was awesome i thought the place i was at went nuts i thought it was hysterical

people blame Floyd for ruining the fight but the KO made my night, plus its really Ortiz's fault for letting his guard down

Those are really rare examples. Most of his fights he doesn't open up that much other than to throw 1 punch , 2 punches at the most. He's never been a fluid combination puncher. His bread and butter are his jab to the body, lead hooks, and straight right hand.

I was very surprised, I miss the Floyd that uses to punch in combinations, I still love to watch the Gatti fight.

MVC is either the biggest ***** of all time (and that's saying something) or a brilliant troll. I go with option 2. This has Relentless written all over it.

I was....ofcourse we know a complete boxer like Floyd can combination punch as John Anthony says go back and look at his early fights. He used to combination punch very nicely BUT it was generally when he saw an opening.

Since he has got older he pot shots which is still nice as he hits so cleanly and accurately, its cool to see him snapping his opponents head back with his lead right and then tying them up. So that is what I expected to see.

In the build up he said fans wanted to see more pretty boy Mayweather and he was going to show them he still could do it, I totally ignored it and thought it was just talk but he did show a nice arsenal in that fight.

Every now and then? Name the boxers apart from a small minority who throw in combinations consistently for 12 rounds, every fight?

He is very fluid in his combinations, when he throws them. :-(

Not surprised at all....the real surprise is that he doesnt open up like that more often
