or does it just seem that way? is it that fighters keep their distance more now that it makes the effective uppercut seen less?
I don't think the current amatuer system encourages fighters to use that punch as an effective tool...and if fighters don't develop one, they will probably seldom throw it. That being said there are still some fighters that use it beautifully...JMM and Bute, to a lesser extant Zab..Lewis was a pretty recent proponent.
Lewis use to luv using the uppercut while the other hand pushed his opponents head down ie Morrison, Grant fights.......very effective. Tyson in his early days had a potent uppercut using his legs beautifully to bring it up....the 1st Bruno fight was a classic example.
Ridiculous thread, uppercuts are used all of the time, you must just watch **** boxers. Khan, Bute, Mundine, Ward, Mayweather etc all use uppercuts. Think before making a thread next time.
Ridiculous post putting mandy's name amongst the worlds best........he simply is not at that class..........and deep down you know so admit it.......he at least knows it & thus avoids all of them.
as stated before, a lot of good boxers still utilise the uppercut, jmm uses the uppercut brilliantly.
James kirkland is another one who likes to throw it. Fights carlos molina this weekend. Dont forget erik morales v danny garcia on same card. There ya go...morales throws it too.
Mate I wouldn't joke about that! I have to wear oven mitts 24/7 on the off chance I even touch my face by accident, I carry some strong sleeping pills on the end of my arms. Chump.
