Kessler doesn't like to rumble. When you pressure him he's disoriented.

Plus he's top heavy, he's all upper body muscles and he lacks leg drive. He can be pushed back easily.

Kessler decisions Taylor but loses to Pavlik.

Did you see the Andrade-fight??? - he is under 12 rounds of constant pressure and does alright for himself in that fight.

As for the Calzaghefight - as long as Calzaghe came at Kessler putting him under pressure Kessler did just fine - so fine that Calzaghe stopped doing that and fought more defensively - too bad for Kessler that he couldn't counter that move...

It's truly amazing how Joe fans will hype the beleagured Kessler because he's a castaway in the road of boxing for Joe C...what a disgrace....Let's stop and take a minute to ask ourselves who did Kessler beat before getting pummeled and the hands of Joe??
The all powerful all slick Anthony Mundine??
    Markus Beyer??
You people truly are warped and if you were to stoned during Calzaghe-Kessler fight to notice the mental breakdown Kessler suffered during the fight...your in for a rude awakening....Now Pavliks opposition in 07 alone Taylor, and Miranda hand Beyer and Mundine a beatdown 9 times out of 10...
I'm not trying to knock any fighter I'm just trying be considerate of the facts:good
As I've stated before in other threads I like Kessler, however he needs to reestablish his confidence as well as his dominance and let everyone know he did'nt contract "Lacy's Disease".....Maybe down the road Kessler may be competitive against Pavlik but not now...Taylor-Kessler would be a fantastic fight...So to be fair to Kessler I need to see him fight again before making an accurate pick as to what round he would get KOd in.. Cheers Mates....

Agreed....I would'nt say he doesnt like to rumble though...He likes it if HE's forcing the fight
It's been proven that Kessler fights on his heels when confronted by a pressure fighter with superb workrate....This could've been countered with lateral movement however as stated before Kessler wasnt all there mentally

Have you ever seen anyone giving Kessler any serious pressure problems? Was it WBA champ Mundine? 3-time WBC champ Beyer? Undefeated Andrade? WBA champ Siaca? Anyone of those pushing him back easily?

Oh yes, I've almost forgot... Joe Calzaghe. But we're talking about a HOF top100 (before the Hopkins fight; that can be HOF49-60 after that) fighter, a brilliant unorthodox, awkward, speedy punching machine and Kessler was still landing bombs in the 12th after eating a LOT of clean shots. That's really something. Fighting intelligently, boxing smart and brawling when needed, mixing it up, using the jab, the hooks, the uppercuts very effective - Kessler did it all. Just wasn't enough. Still made it very competitive.

But if you use your logic - pulling out just one fight from a very long career - and a very wrong fight because there are no one else like Calzaghe - you are making a mistake. Imagine how silly you would sound if your argument about Hopkins would be something like this: 'every fighter with a good hand speed, straight punches and good defense can and will easily outbox Bernard' (because you've just seen the Jones fight). The mistake it that Jones is not an average fighter with decent speed, movement and defense. Judging Holyfield on the Lennox loss alone. Judging Naseem Hamed on the MAB loss alone. Judging MAB on the PacMan losses. Judging James Toney on the Jones loss. Judging Diego Corrales on the Mayweather loss. You see? I’m 100% sure you’ve never seen one Kessler fight other than the Calzaghe World SMW Unification bout. And you didn’t watch it closely enough it appears.

The guy's not unbeatable of course, nobody is. But he's just happened to loss to a guy who never had even a very close fight. Never in 14 years, and in 2008, it will be his 15th. I think Kessler beats everybody today from MW to LHW, and there's no shame in losing to Joe Calzaghe. Just ask Bernard Hopkins... after April 19th! :D

Man I'm gonna read these threads with joy after April 19th, especially looking for those who aren't just trashing Joe (I don’t really care about that, I’m not a fan of his) - but the ones who are constantly underestimating his opposition – including Mikkel (I’m not a fan of him either). Hopkins losing more rounds to Calzaghe than Kessler did will make a lot of people look silly, but luckily for them they can use the 'too old' excuse.

But what will be your excuse when Kessler will actually perform again, and perform BIG in big fights? :thumbsup

Bigbone-your obviously a Joe hugger that feels that hyping a castaway of his somehow makes Joe better....Kessler was exposed, Joe got in his head and ****ed him.....You sound like a Lacy fan, hyping his ass after the same result and where's Lacy now??? He's where Kessler will be in a year or so after waiting forever to redeem himself....He steps in the ring with ANY top MW or SMW right now he gets his ass handed to him again...Bet on it:yep

I think Kessler beats either Taylor or Pavlik. He's a more complete fighter than either man, and would outbox Pavlik, and stop Taylor. Kessler could at this time move up to lightheavy and beat Hopkins, and is more capable of actually decking or hurting him than is Calzaghe, who will defeat Hopkins by virtue of his superior workrate and punch volume when they meet.
