I think I saw abit of him once. His name does ring a bell but he is hardly in Hattons class. If Hatton is only fighting twice this year then why have a tune up? Especially against Lascano or Isaac. Time is not going to be on Hattons side while he's fighting so little. To me it makes little sense. Gazoc- He gets te adulation because he went along blitzing guys for a long time then won the WBC belt and has fought some very good fighters. Taking away Cotto and PBF the light welter and welter divisions are all the same. Witter has looked good and it would be a great domestic showdown.
Someone better than a fighter who wont have fought for 15months come fight night and someone better than a fighter who's done nothing at 140. After all the "2 years left so we want every fight to be special" talk from the Hatton camp maybe I was expecting to much.
Hardly blitzing, I've sat through more than a few boring Witter fights and I'm not one of those people who give give grief over the Judah fight - I thought that was a good performance considering the circumstances. Augustus highlights..... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=n6z2UE0hdT8 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TyCqbLfv9ug
Why Augustus will never be a champion despite all that ability.... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9X2wPWMURJ4&feature=related
Did a single one of those shots even hit? Right at the end of the fight as well. Surprised I hadn't seen that before.
It was coming off a run of 10 fights without defeat for Augustus as well, in an IBF inter-continental title fight and he boxed again a month later so the IBF obviously wasn't too bothered.
whats juan's style like? forgetting that this isn't a great opponent, will this be a good fight to watch stylistically, or will it be a complete stinker? replies from impartial posters please (if there are any)
I wouldn't say Witter has done nothing, winning a WBC title is no mean feat for anybody. However, he hasn't achieved what he should have done though. He has called Ricky Hatton out like a soft kid for EIGHT YEARS. Surely he would have got the message at some stage, and could have built his own legacy rather than being bitter. In 20 years time, I would be surprised if anyone really remembered Junior Witter. Certainly not for some of his performances, more for his whinging! Compare that to Hatton - anyone who saw the fight against Tszyu, the KO of Castillo or the Mayweather prefight business and fight itself won't forget it in a hurry. Lets compare: 1000 people at Doncaster Dome, Witter beats a guy who had been KO'd by a bloke KO'd by Hatton. Or....................... A packed house at MEN Arena Hatton beat an ATG light welter Plus.................... The KO of Jose Luis Castillo You choose.
