Not sure I understand your reasoning:think For me I think Kessler has all the tools...the only thing I question right NOW is his mental strength(toughness, confidence, determination) So lets assume Kessler IS mentally fine How do you see the fight playing out?? Abraham just runs in there KO's his ass and leaves without saying goodbye?? just curious
As I see it, boxing with the style Abraham has shown us so far, it's probably necessary for him to have a few "dead" rounds because he unleashes massive amounts of power in his punches. That's all fine if he eventually KOs his opponents, which he usually does, but dangerous on the score-board if he doesn't. I mean, he risks loosing to a clearly lesser fighter. I would like to see him reduce the number of power punches and increase his aggresiveness.
Kessler has no tools, he is very average fighter. The HBO crew flying to Europe and giving tickets to all the ppl on the plane with em were saying that they think kessler vs calzaghe will be the same or even more one-sided performance than fight against Lacy. It is so surprising how many fans believed the hype, believed that Kessler is a really good fighter and can compete with Taylor, Pavlik, Bute or Abraham. Fight is as simple as that, Abraham is just as usual taking his spots, waiting for the opportunity, controlling the pace of the fight, showing his very tight and good defence, showing his good combinations and eventually knocking out one-dimensional Kessler.
atsch No one can be more limited as a champion as Ponce de Leon... With Abraham I see the same problem as with Valero...both are technically sound but have too much confidence in their power (with Abraham looking a bit more intelligent with taking his spots). Those errors can only be erased in training and I hope Wegner has noticed them and start to teach Abraham more to box as he did before (The Abraham from the Ikeke fight really has the goods to be undisputed middleweight champion). Fighting guys like Ayala can become a routine for a champion, thus lacking the motivation to train hard. Without an aim/challenge one can likely under perform on any given night. Coming back to Kessler - Abraham at 165: Abraham by vicious KO - Kessler would be too drained and so weaken his stamina and punching output.
I think Kessler would win U/D possible late stoppage. Would be a tough fight but reckon Kessler would be too strong for Abraham.
3 pounds is nothing that would drain a serious fighter who has no trouble making 168. Kessler is leagues above Abraham skill-wise! Easy UD Kessler!
Kessler wins it easy, but not because Abraham is so one dimensional but because Kessler is a bit more skilled, a bit faster and a lot bigger. Arthur's pretty good in jabbing, tight defense and accurate punching but he can mix it up and he mixes it up if he wants to... just watch the Miranda fight. I agree that he should be more aggressive and mix it up more, but he's not one dimensional. It's like calling Winky Wright one-dimensional. You know that's a pretty good dimension if you can make a HOF career with it! :good
Kessler can barely make 168 (he struggled before his fight vs. JC) - and Abraham just lacks motivation right now. Sure Kessler could give him fits and at 168 I see him winning a clear decision but at 165 he will be to weak to stay away from AAs power...
The one dimensional comment, was a witty attempt to answer the remark: "Abraham would easy KO the one dimensional Kessler"! To me Kessler is much more of a versatile fighter than Abraham!
