Both have a lot to lose. GSP likesto be in control. He likes to have as many things stacked in his favor as possible. He doesn't push for the finish, he takes next to no risks.
It is what it is. Honestly I wouldn't expect a whole lot from the fight. I see it going only one of two ways. Either Anderson can avoid the tds of GSP and pick him apart on the feet, or GSP can take him down at will and grind out a decision. I really don't see anything in between happening. It would still be nice to see though.
It's a lose-lose for the UFC. They have nothing to gain by having them fight each other, except maybe if one or both of them are planning on retiring afterwards.
anderson is scared, after all he is a skinny twig that used to fight at ww 10 years ago, so why dont he just cut down to ww? it is not like he is a 220-230 pounds hw cutting to mw
Dana White !!!!! Seriously , Dana is to blame for this fight never happening , there has been multiple opportunity's for this fight to be made , the momentum has passed now which is a shame because both men have some huge fights coming up in there respective weight classes but none bigger the having these 2 face off Dana was quoted as saying that he isn't a fan of weight hopping and he still believes GSP hasn't quite cleared out 170 , this was pre Koscheck 2 when he'd battered just about everybody in the top 10 in the world , nobody in the world (barring Serra) had give him anything to think about , and here is Dana White saying he needs to clear out the division first , seriously the guy's a **** :deal As for Silva , well i think he should be more active in campaigning for this fight , as should GSP , at the end of the day these two have quoted many times there legacy is whats most important to them If GSP beats Condit , and Silva beats Sonnen , this fight should unequivocally be made as soon as physically possible , its the Mayweather Pacquiao of MMA , it simply has to happen
GSP while training in camp Jackson was taking down Rashad Evans at will , this has been documented by most of the Jackson camp , this was 3 years ago as well His explosiveness will make up for lack of pure size against anyone @185
You can choose to believe this or not, but apparently GSP was all set to move up last year but then trained with Chael Sonnen and could do NOTHING with him. The size difference was just too much for him to overcome. I think after that GSP would fight Silva but only at a catchweight. Whether the UFC will allow that is up to debate. The fact that both have grudge matches that could each do a million makes them even less inclined to do it. And of course there's the issue of Jones-Silva.
