There is no blueprint on how to beat Floyd Money Mayweather

Always thought, the only fighter who ever had a chance against Mayweather was Cotto pre-Margarito. Mainly based off the Castillo fight where he had Mayweather on the ropes most of the fight, and Cotto being a super-Castillo himself with superior offense when he had a fighter on the ropes would give Mayweather big problems.

1) You kidding? He did much better in the second fight than first.

2) His fighting on the inside improved substantially since that bout.

 

You don't need a blueprint to beat a boxer, people only repeat this because Mayweather says it. All boxers can be defeated in a number of ways IMO, it's just that most boxers who lose seem to come up against that one style that troubles them...their following opponents take note (most of the time) and this results in another defeat/close bout.

I'll give you an example.

Mayweather v Duran/Hearns/SRL - all offer different styles and arsenals, all have a great chance at beating Mayweather at certain weights. I genuinely believe Hearns and SRL's beat and possibly stop Mayweather, maybe Duran also, with Duran's likelihood increasing even more so at the lower weights.

Duran - Very intelligent pressure, ripping power punches to head and body, whilst not offering a stationary target.
Hearns - Could probably outbox Mayweather by keeping him at the end of the jab and that massive right hand. Or he could just bulldoze Mayweather and take him out.
SRL - Could do virtually everything Mayweather can do, and he's the bigger guy.

These 3 mentioned are ATGs, but that's my point...when you're in with the very best, you don't need a blueprint per say to beat a boxer. Of course there isn't really 3 greats in and around Mayweather's weight class that offers that standard (excluding Pacquiao)..but still, there you have 3 different blueprints to beating Mayweather IMO.

 

Active, prime and committed body punchers beat floyd.
Castillo learned from 5+ years of sparring Chavez. Most waste their time head hunting the high guard.
Body punching makes Floyd ordinary. Castillo did it round 5 what happened from then on ?
He won nearly every round. Ortiz cracked Floyd to the body at about half way through the 4th round and he had a minute plus of open game on Floyd.
Mosley was fixed so he just punched the high guard.

Cotto has the tools to follow the blueprint that exists from his only loss to JCC 1
115-111.

Any fighter that has ZERO wins vs a prime A level warrior can be beat. especially one at 34,35 years old.

If by saying there's no formulae to beat him just means he's never lost a fight then you could say the same thing about a ton of fighters. It's no big deal. Alvarez, Chavez, Brook, Bradley, there's no formulae to beat any of these guys. Joe calzaghe even.

You even get fighters that may have lost a fight but it was against an opponent completely differant to your next opponent. SO that guy would have no blueprint to work off and would have to come up with something new.

Yes, he doesn't move nearly as much so he doesn't waste any energy. He also gets a lot more leverage on his punches as a result....making him a bigger puncher in comparison.

He doesn't fight people who dont cooperate with his style. There is always an angle to his fights, either age, weight, style, size, inexperience. He only fights 70/30 fights.

Yeah there is that to it. That's what makes it more damning. He's already extremely talented, so beating him is gonna be very difficult even if you have the style, age, and size to give him problems, but when he takes advantage of most of those things with the kind fights he takes, it makes the chances of beating him more remote.

People can bang on about the Pacman negotiations all they want, but the bottom line is every other fighter is submitting to the testing procedure in place, so when he doesn't, it lets you know how reluctant he is to face anyone who he perceives has a larger % chance of beating him than he'd like. Irony is I think he would beat Pacman comfortably though.

 

the way to beat would be to go all out. he avoids fighters like that. margarito, paul williams, cotto in prime, shane in prime. hes been fooling the publc for years and still is.
