http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XJrsSg0123s Been watching a few of his interviews recently. His speach is so slurry. Has it always been like this or is it deteriorating. I can't believe he's licenced to fight in April.
He sounds even worse than he did before the lebedev fight. Its actually starting to worry me. Before he had a slur not I can barely understand him.
JT might have any number of brain related disorders. He's one of the biggest examples of having a great chin being good for a boxing career, but has to be paid back later in life. His Burger King sonar is working fine though. :thumbsup
Sounds like a crackhead....it's sad to see. He should become a trainer imo, would not only theoretically be very good, he would be very funny There is now no difference between Toney & Floyd Sr. Speech wise
James Toney has always been gnawing his words, but it has become much worse these last years. While before he was talking fast and coherently, and he wasn't really slurring.. he's now barely understandable. He surely has some kind of brain damage. A 20+ year career, 85 pro fights and countless rounds of hard sparring do that...
You think we'd have learned. You watch interviews with Ali befor e his last fight and you wonder, how was he allowed to fight. And no way would that happen now. But its like we don't learn. Its happening now with James Toney.
Pugilistic dementia maybe. Parkinsons, probably not. Parkinsons is rare among boxers, but other types of brain damage is not. is His motor skills are obvoiusly damaged. Same with Mosley and others.
^^ Yeah his motor skills have clearly deteriorated over the last 10 years or so. He was never the most articulate or clearly-spoken guy but his speech is barely comprehensible these days.
