Lennox Lewis - a great champion from the 1970s-1980s. Tall, sharp jab, decent heart, terrific puncher. Lou Esa - never a champion beacuse Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes both ducked Lou knowing Lou would flatten them both as Lou's terrific wins over Gene Idelette, Fred Wallace and Hydra Lacy proved. But since Lennox Lewis ducked Lou as well, we can only surmise hypothetically what would have happened. I say the fight would go like this: --Round one: Lennox come out in round one throwing jabs which Lou expertly slips and parries. Lennox does connect with a hard uppercut which Lou shrugs off. Lou twists and turns his head and body, causing Lennox to miss badly, and Lou lands 2 hard jobs followed by a booming overhand right. Lennox backs off. Lou pursues, landing several more jabs, opening a cut over Lewis' left eye. The bell rings, saving Lewis. --Round two: Lennox comes out, throws a jab which Lou shrugs off. Lennox tries a combination which Lou also takes well. But Lou winds up with an overhand right which stuns Lennox. A follow-up left look puts Lewis on the deck. Lewis arises at nine, and covers up. Lou comes forward hurling Foreman type bombs, and Lennox is again on the deck from an Esa uppercut which literally lifts the 240 pound Lewis off his feet. Lewis falls flat on his back and is counted out! Lou Esa is heavyweight champion! After all these years, after all the hard work, after being avoided by every champion, Lou Esa has finally been crowned heavyweight champion. Meeting the press post-fight, Lou Esa states the following: "I have waited years for this opportunity and I made the best of it. Lewis was a great champion but I knew my iron chin, durability, and heart would make up for anything Lennox might try. I was never hurt and I knew Lennox' chin couldn't withstand my power. I resent these champions avoiding me for so long. I know I could have defeated Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes as well. I am proud to bring the heavyweight title back to New Jersey. I will be the greatest champion of all time. Thank you." I know the above is strictly hypothetical, but I believe it is an entirely plausible and predictable based on Lou Esa's phenomenal career. What is your opinion?
So your point is that lewis would have had more balls then Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes.
You have to understand that Lennox Lewis was forced into the fight by the sanctioning bodies - (they would have stripped him of his title if he continued ducking Lou). Plus Lennox demanded and received 200 million dollars for the fight. The public demanded the fight. With all that carrot & stick pressure there was no way Lennox could continue to duck Lou Esa. I neglected to state that earlier in the hypothetical scenario (sorry).
You also forgot to mention that Lennox was KTFO by fighters who couldn't carry Ali, Foreman or Smokin Joe's jock strap. Mentioning Lennox in the same sentence as those greats should qualify for a ***** slap to the chops. I guess we could let it slide in the UK, since those fans don't base their opinions on facts, but in the US that **** will get you beat down in the street like a hoe.
