Yeah, just like Sugar Ray Leonard's win over Thomas Hearns in their first fight diminished is legacy. Boxing fans have always hated to see a fighter getting outboxed and pulling out the victory.

    (sarcasm /off)

It's enhanced his legacy given how dominant Vit has been since his loss at the hands of LL yrs back. LL is a legit ATG at HW.

And oh they'll probably say both cuts came from the one punch, and that lewis wrapped his hands in barbed wire.

Dear god you are an awful human being.

Who ever said Lennox was in his prime vs Tyson!?

Prime lennox was when he smashed prime Briggs in 5 rounds (something Vit couldnt do).

Prime Lennox was when he destroyed prime Golota in 1 round.

You could even say Prime lennox when back to 1992 when he KO'd Ruddock in 2 rounds.

He was 37 when he faced Tyson, and 38 when fighting Vitali. Your a ****ing idiot.

People that say Lewis was out of shape are just doing some massive revisionist history.
He looked as solid as ever and he was slightly higher in weight which in a 250lb guy can just be 1 meal.

The reason this fight will forever haunt his career is that he promised (from his own mouth) a rematch to a guy that was outfighting and outboxing him for the duration untill it got stopped on cuts.
Even though its a legit win i never saw anyone consider a guy that was losing the fight and winning on a cut as the better fighter.

What further hurt him was that it took him over a year to announce his retirement in which he made Vitali jump through hoops to get the rematch.

If he had never promised a rematch and said he would retire right away nobody would have thought twice about it.
Would just be a aging ATG scraping by a somewhat fortunate win and recognizing that his time had come.

Fact is he just came of some of his best performances, had never taken much punishment and looked as solid as he ever had.

The thing that I don’t understand is why the Klitschko fans are so upset by this…there was no shame in losing to Lewis, the guy had one of the biggest right hands in the business, and the loss made Vitali a better fighter in the long run.

If it had gone on longer Vitali might well have won it after Lennox ran out of puff but as with any sport, sometimes it’s a small element of luck that turns the result and the fight was stopped, and rightly so in my opinion given the damage caused.

It has neither damaged Lewis’ legacy nor Vitali’s career in the long run. It demonstrated that Lewis, although a great fighter, was due for retirement, and that Vitali was a major force in the heavyweight division.

If Vitali was to worry about something affecting his legacy it should be that his younger brother holds more belts than him and that they are unwilling to fight.

To be a true champion, you need to beat the best challenger and sadly that is what will damage the Klitchko’s more when people look back.

Oh and Vladimir23, we have all seen your copy and paste posts several times by now, can you at least have the good decency to summarise your point and to fit it to the discussion, otherwise its just spam.

You have some valid points, but you aren't helping the case by repeating yourself over and over

Anyone who knows anything about this sport laughs at this statement. The Lewis that fought Tyson was not prime. Absolutely laughable.
