good to see him back even if it was against poor opposition, dont see him beating any of the top SMW's though, but time will tell

This fight reminds me of that mascarade between Dirrel and Cunningham.

why did referee ask jaco:''where are you from, California?''

California has weak boxers or what? just curious!

Happy that Pavlik won but I certainly won't be getting carried away. He beat a club fighter. Any half decent fighter would have done the same. When Pavlik does that to a gatekeeper boxer like he did to McKart, he might convince me he can hang with the top guys.

This fight told us nothing about where Pavlik is at.

    It's a W but the opponent was non-existent.

Carl Froch beats this Pavlik every day of the week, several times a day.

nice ring generalship, I see a subtle change in kellys work now and hes poise, looks impressive even if it was agains a weak opponent, Kelly powers is just simply sickening period, I also see how he counters with more purpose and that little feint also, Pavliks back and is in a good place, looking for him to take a major belt from any of the major holders late this year :)

I'm tempeted to jump on the Kelly Pavlik bandwagon already. It's true his opponent didn't bring much of a challenge, but I like what Pavlik is applying now to his game. Still working behing a good jab to set up the bigger punches, he moved his head a bit at the end of the first round (instead of just jumping backwards) when Jaco threw a few punches together after being knocked down, also liked how he was landing the left hook and how he tried to sneak in a left uppercut in the second round. I beleive tha with consistent work on the gym and a better opponent before he steps up he could be ready for the elites at 168lbs.

It is true that Jaco wasn't much but it is also true that Pavlik continues to have tremendous punching power. He has such great leverage on his punches and his combinations are excellent. Look, the guy is likable and nice to watch. He comes to fight and is always entertaining. It remains to be seen as to how he can handle better fighters but he will always have a punchers chance.
