That was such a bull**** stoppage. Linares didn't look good though.

 

Tell me about it! Was it just me that thought from six to nine when liners was down was fast as ****?

 

What's even more worrying after watching that bout is, Thompson was telegraphing that right hand, massively.

 

Hmmmm Thompson could well have shot his load. But the count plus the time out could have helped him recover.

I did like how Thompson was closing the distance and landing.

Like AnthonyW said what I didn't like was Linares could not avoid his right, I mean WTF that is THE first thing you learn in boxing how to avoid the right hand......These boxers NEED to learn DEFENSE!

F#ck a strength and conditioning coach if you don't know how to duck, parry or generally avoid someones power hand!

 

Alright, that was a BS stoppage. The round was almost over, give his corner a chance to clean up that cut.... but wow.. Linares got overwhelmed by a guy who didn't seem all that good... he was getting nailed with windmill rights.

it looks like Linares has not developed any defensive instinct that could make up for his weak chin: insufficient head movement (does not slip punches), insufficient reflexes, no tight guard + tucked chin (see the way he eats the rights) to block or absorb the punches betters, rarely parries punches, does not know how to clinch, does not know what to do when swarmed
He should focus on this now and exclusively, he's still young and can learn that
Plus it seems that his mental preparation for this fight was not good, he did not seem to be really focused, maybe he did not totally recover from the De Marco fight

 

Linares as talented as he is can't defend against a right hand to save his life. Can't take credit from Yeyo Thompson tho he was fighting outside his weight class to fight Linares. The stoppage did seem premature, but the cut was supposedley on a bad spot. If it was one of those cuts on the eyelid then yea stoppage was justified. Thompson looked great tho going downstairs then surprising Linares upstairs. Linares just had no respect for Thompsons power and this is what happens. Cut or no cut Yeyo was laying a whoopin. Linares needs to learn to clinch or move away from the right.

 

My god linares looks awful. I think he needs to take a long time off the sport maybe even retire. He just doesn't have that mental toughness to go to that next level. He was scared to throw punches against that bum FFS!!
