SHAMED Scott Harrison has been given one last chance to rescue his career.
The former WBO featherweight looked as if he had blown his comeback bid after more than six years out of the ring.

But fight boss Alex Morrison has thrown the 34-year-old a lifeline and says he believes the troubled Scot can turn his life round and be a world champ again.

Harrison was arrested and reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged theft and minor public order offence after an incident at a Glasgow supermarket last month.
And that appeared to spell the end for Harrison just months after he had his licence reinstated by the British Boxing Board of Control.
Harrison went off the rails because of doubts surrounding his planned comeback bout – scheduled for Blackpool last night – due to a contractual dispute involving rivals promoters Frank Maloney and Frank ******.
And Board chiefs looked poised to impose fresh sanctions on the Cambuslang fighter in the wake of the supermarket incident. But Morrison has agreed to become the fighter’s manager and co-promoter.

He said: “I have signed a management contract with Scott and plan to bring him back on a show in Glasgow in around five weeks time.
“I met with Scott and his father and trainer, Peter, on Friday and we have agreed a three-year deal. The rest is up to him.
“Scott looks good. He looks fresh and spoke more in the hour or so he was at my office than he has ever done – and I’ve known him since he was a schoolboy.
“He even managed to laugh at a poster I have on my office wall advertising one of his fights with the headline, ‘Scott Harrison – risky business’.
“But I don’t regard this as a gamble. Scott is the one who is gambling with his career and I have nothing to lose.

“I sympathise with him having experienced problems with depression. He admits he was drunk but that’s hardly a crime.
“His lawyer has assured him that the fiscal has no plans to proceed with any charges.
“That being the case, I wouldn’t expect the Board to take any further action against Scott.”
Morrison, who also manages world lightweight champion Ricky Burns, added: “Scott is capable of being successful again at the highest level. It is my hope to have two world champions in my stable before too long.”
****** has agreed to copromote Harrison after Maloney ended his involvement in the wake of the latest incidents.
Morrison added: “There’s a well-known saying that every saint has a past and every sinner a future – Scott deserves another chance.”

Does Harrison really need the stress of being a pro boxer?

Perhaps he needs to look at a less stressful aspect of the sport or another career, if he really wants to rebuild his life.

As Morrison himself admits, he has no emotional investment in Harrison. If Harrison sorts himself out and continues boxing, Morrison makes money, if it all goes wrong, Morrison is not going to lose anything...

If he's finally getting in the ring, good luck to him. Everyone deserves a 58th chance after all!!

In all seriousness, hopefully he shows us something. I'm going to be optimistic and say maybe he can still do it at domestic level, but its going to be really tough considering he was a big drainer and traded on things that may not realistically still be there.
