I think he would have used his right if it was needed, but that's not what he has been working on. Garcia has been working with his left, so I think the gameplan was to use it against a weaker opponent. Well done!

Put it this way, This guy was an absoulute can, But so was Alfonso Lopez who he fought last IMO. Lopez got shut out verses Dyah Davis in the most boring fight of the year and got knocked down/UD'd by a LOSING record journeyman ****** Williams, All post-Pavlik. And Pavlik had a close fight with that guy. Jaco isn't THAT much worse in my opinion and finishing him in Brutal fashion made me see this as an impressive performance by KP. But now it's time for him to face a live body, then maybe a top Super Middleweight or Middleweight, Maybe the Bute-Froch winner, Ward, Dirrell, Taylor III ( :) ) or a move back to MW.

Yes he fought a can but he looked a lot healthier and stronger. Stay away from the booze for good and he can definitely put together another good run.

If Kelly had used his right we would have congressional hearings on Monday on outlawing professional boxing in the US.

Pavlik started beating up on Lopez pretty bad in the 10th. Lopez would not have made it out of the 11th. I wonder if Kelly got to him enough to make him see "ghosts". :D Seriously, quite a few have not been as good after getting roughed up by Pavlik. The list is long.

Who do you guys think he'll fight on Friday 8 June?!? A top-10 SMW? Or a half no-hoper, stepping up from a total no-hoper in Jaco?

I'm not looking for anything 'compelling' yet. No idea on names or even weight. Weight will be the most interesting thing to come out of the announcement. If it is a catch weight below 168 then it fuels the speculation of a return to 160.

Pavlik mentioned in one of the Elie Seckbach videos that he has a hard time believing he'll fight at 160 again so I doubt it'll be at 160 tbh.

He also sounded pissed that it looked like Martinez would get to Chavez Jr. before he had a chance to. I think Arum promised him that if he could make 160. THAT video was a couple days old. So, hard to say.

Im glad to see Pavlik back in the ring but you can tell his opponent didnt want to be in the ring that night, He took a knee from a jab then when he got up from the second knockdown he chose not to lift his gloves prompting the stoppage

Pavlik should at least fight someone who comes to win, Paul Smith would jump at the chance for a fight with Pavlik, Barker might even be a good choice but I cant see a lot of good American middleweights out there at the moment and the only good Super Middleweights are Dirrell and Ward who would prove to be too much for him

We shouldnt be over rating Pavlik based on this performance, he didnt struggle but he wasnt fighting someone who was putting up a fight

Yeah Pavlik is playing it by ear to see where his weight ends up. In all these interviews on you tube he makes lots of mention of wanting to fight Martinez and Chavez jr at 160.

He's been working on that left hand for weeks with Garcia so I think this was all about putting that into a fight more than anything else. I'm sure he could have dropped more right hands and got him out of there in round one but that doesn't benefit Kelly, he needed to put into place what Garcia has been teaching him and he did that.

It's a small step but he looked good.
