I thought he looked alright, needs more fights with this new style, but he had a lot of motion, rhythm, pop, I think that he loses on the elite level again, but hey the MW division is open other than Martinez. Good luck Pavlik.
he looked a little too filled out and pretty thick across the back to be going back to MW. i just don't see that happening. i watched the youtube vid of the fight but don't know what he came into the ring weighing. know he was just under 170 pre-fight.
He beat a Club fighter. The fight told us nothing. He needs 3 more before facing someone of Championship quality IMO. Step it up each time, find someone who'll take him 10 rounds, test that gas tank. I can see Arum feeding him softies and then putting him in with JCC Jr.
Yea a lot of Abraham V. Pavlik talk going, I'm kind of shocked people even keep bringing up Aurthur though, but I guess him and kelly lost in big ways against skilled technical fighters. So yea I can see that fight going down, it would truly knock the rust off Pavlik's chops even though he has a great chin. I see Pavlik by UD
Your second sentence is a bold statement, speaking for everyone is not a good thing to do. Basin, cocky, and arrogant. I think the fight said a lot, he's back in a good environment, working on changing and breaking old habits, and that he's taking a good path back to the top. Yea 160 is probably not likely, so he will be at SMW and there he's a fresh face and can stand to learn a lit before testing the champion level.
Pavlik always bring a level of excitement to his fights. I can see him getting a couple of undercard tune-ups in hopes that he can eventually compete for a piece of the title. Overall, I couldn't tell much from the fight Saturday other than Kelly is back in the gym, looks in good shape, and seems to be taking the right steps in his career.
I'm surprised by the fact that quite a few people still want to see a KP/AA fight. There was a time when I bought into the hype over this fight as much as anybody, but after years of watching both fighters at their best and worst I came to the conclusion that people would be pretty disappointed if this bout came off. AA is pretty damn tough, so he might see the final bell. However, the fight itself would just be round after round of Pav bouncing Arthur's head around like a speed bag. Imagine that LuJaun Simon is an inch and a half taller than he is, strong as an ox, has really long arms, and hits like a freight train, and there you have it! Pavlik takes it by 10-11 round TKO, or pitches something pretty close to a shut-out in a somewhat boring fight.
