    Agreed on McCall/Cooper comment.
And on me and Seth, I think with the styles, it'll make for very good entertainment on the night of the fight. I think he beats Chazz as well, so I'll be watching with major interest April 28.

Cheers bro. Copper wasn't my first choice if given the option, but he was our only option. My first reaction was same as yours, but his team says he has been training and I figured he has a similar style, though obviously not on the same level anymore, as Seth Mitchell.

I think after a McCall fight I'd be fine tuned and ready for him. I am a Seth Mitchell fan, but this is the fight needed to go to the next level.

That would be great if you got a shot at Mitchell next, assuming he gets by Witherspoon and you get by Cooper.

    :thumbsup

Hey Chauncy, I hope you'll fight McCall after Cooper because Oliver is still tough guy. His experience, jab and power make him dangerous and if you want to get ready for Mitchell you should fight McCall :good

I'm a big Mitchell fan too, & i know your Iron Chin will come in handy against his thudding power.

Really if you manage to beat Mitchell, then Byrant Jennings could be next on your hit list. :deal

Anyway, good luck to you Chauncy. :good

  7. Wait the Bert Cooper? The guy who was TKO'd by old Foreman in 2 and Prime Holyfield?
Well at least "the fat dorky white guy" is active. All Chauncy can do is beat the guy and move on.
Chauncy is more active than guys who some how have higher rating. How is boytsov rated so high? He fights like every 9 months! Switch Boytsov with Welliver in the Ring ratings.

Indeed... & since being stopped by Holy, he's lost more fights than he's won in the years that followed.

  10. Goddamn! I thought ol' Bert was long gone.

I interviewed Oliver McCall for this fight when it looked solid on March 27th. The interview never made it to the front page though. I didn't get enough info to say why it didn't go off, who was getting in, or if it would be revisited. So I didn't release a half arse article based on my own speculation. But I will share the interview with you folks now. McCall was amped up and ready to go.

The 757 Gets Grounded, Jumbo Jet Message To Lennox And Klitschko's Postponed

    By: Money Messer

I got a chance to interview Oliver McCall the other day about the upcoming match that he had accepted against heavyweight contender Chauncy Welliver. The fight was supposed to occur in Jefferson City, Missouri, on April 5th. Oliver was amped up about the opportunity to say the least. The following is from our conversation on March 27th, 2012.

Oliver's thoughts on the opportunity to face WBC #6 and WBO #7 ranked heavyweight Chauncy Welliver:

"I am excited and I am ready. I'm going to be putting up my WBF Intercontinental HW Title and Chauncy is going to be putting up his WBC Continental Americas HW Title. With a win I will be right back in the mix for a shot at a Klitschko."

McCall on the recent rumors of Lennox Lewis being willing to face a Klitschko for 100 million dollars and whether or not he would be interested in a rubber match with Lewis, if he won this fight and again found himself a world ranked contender:

"Cmon man, you know what the answer to that is. Everyone knows what the answer to that is. Of course, I want the rubber match with Lennox, especially after the way the second fight ended. If I beat Welliver, I want Lewis III and then the winner can get a Klitschko."

His views on Lennox Lewis stepping into a title fight straight away rather than proving himself first:

"I just beat a good, young fighter with 30 wins man (Damien Wills). If I beat Welliver I will have just beaten a top 10 heavyweight and I will be rated for both Klitschkos. If Lennox comes back he should have to face me for the right to face a Klitschko. I've never left and I've never stopped beating top fighters. I am still here and I am still one of the best in the world. I want my rubber match with Lennox Lewis!"

His views on Chauncy Welliver and their previous experiences sparring eachother:

"He's a good heavyweight with good skills. I am not taking Chancey lightly. I know that is not his name but I call him Chancey. He's taking a chance getting in the ring with me, a very big one. I'll be ready to go, I'm in great shape, and this is do or die for me. If I win I am right back where I want to be. If I lose this will be the end of my career."

Oliver's thoughts on the combined 757 heavyweight round streak between him and Welliver without going down:

"Wait, how many rounds do I have and how many rounds does he have?" The answer, McCall 397, Welliver 360.

"Wow, man that is awesome. Much respect to Welliver and what he has been able to do in his career. But I will tell you this much. If Welliver will stand and trade with me, instead of running, I will knock him down. I have no doubt in my mind, I can and will knock Welliver down! I will be the first to do that."

His thoughts on the fight and what it will bring to the heavyweight fans:

"This is the kind of fight heavyweight fans and the division needs. Two good fighters facing eachother with the winner going on to bigger and better fights. It's win or retire for me. I will be coming to win and I ultimately want another shot at the HW Championship Of The World. I don't see this being my ending. I see this being the start of my next great run. Chancey (Chauncy) Welliver is just the next stepping stone to bigger and better things for Oliver McCall."

Don't want to see Chauncey and Mitchell unless it's for one or the others world title. Two of my top 5 fav HW's. One has to go home with an L and be forced to reset.

Chauncey has spent far too long coming this far only to have to regroup.
Seth is coming from football and proving to the world over that "old" dogs can learn new tricks. And he's one vicious pitbull of a dog.
But Chauncey is the one HW contender who could handle his biggest shots and beat him repeatedly to the body. And no one, including Mitchell for that matter, knows how well he can withstand a sustained body attack.:think

Styles make fights and both have a crowd pleasing style in their own way. I guess Im just one who don't want to see one or the other fail on the night.:tired

I am a huge Welliver fan.....and a huge Michigan State Spartan fan. But the time to catch Mitchell is now. And on TV for everyone to see it. Seth will have plenty of time to bounce back after getting schooled by Chauncy.

Plus, I can make a great series of videos burning up some of my old Spartan gear in favor of donning some Gonzaga Zags threads for the fight. Hell, by the time we get done riling up those 2 Universities, East Lansing might not have any couches left after watching the Mitchell loss at the HBO parties all across campus. They go crazy and burn **** all the time down there. I'm sure Seth has even burned a couch or 2. Heck we can even get Boise St. involved on the football end ahead of the big showdown with Sparty to open up next season. I'll burn some Spartan gear and become a Bronco for the fight.

Any weigh-in pics. Chauncy came in at 236.

  15. Chauncy at 236 is real good. Lighter than Arreola.
