We see plenty of discussion on Glass Jaws, Fragile Mandibles, chins the consistency of Wet Toilet Paper and the like, but what of that which is the body's first line of defense against foreign invaders?

That's right, before we even GET to the very structure (or lack thereof) of a fighter's mandibular region, we must first pass through a nebula of nerves, a smattering of subcutis, and a veritable vivisection of veins.

I guess what I'm asking is: Do we need to create a SKINDEX going forward so we can more effictively identify a Jorge Linares or a Miguel Cotto? I think we do, because a fighter's ability stay unswollen and gash-free is critical to long-term success and a prosperous career.

Today's Skinchecker discussion of the day is:

Andy Lee: Tighty Whitey or Loosey Droopy?

FANTASTIC observation my Antipodean friend, Katsidis, though an absolute warrior in his own right, is completely outdone by his marginal SKINDEX:

Skinchecking has been going on for a while. Have you never heard the term "paper faced disgrace"?

    Miguel's skin bruises pretty quickly.

Hatton's was terrible in his early career.

    hahaha YES

what about headbutts? albeit illegal/accidental, does surviving one without a cut vs getting cut affect the a fighter's skindex?

I would have to say, if there is such a thing as "converted paper skin", Cotto would have to be the ultimate specimen.
