What is the legend behind Teddy Atlas's scar?

Its all in his book. I cant remember the details. Something about him and a few of his mates in a car got into an arguement with some other guys in a car beside them and they pulled a knife when they got out.

 

Teddy still has that street mentality inside him.

 

Steward is 10 times the fighter Atlas ever was. Teddy gets his ass kicked in every fight he gets into.

 

If it's in a ghost-written autobiography, it must be true.

I heard around 1980 it was from car crash. So that makes at least 3 or 4 on here who heard it, other mentioned it in other threads on it.

Atlas was a brawler, but he also picked his spots and who he would start **** with.

 

Fightfan, if you can find an old boxing magizine that Ron Stevens, current NY state athletic commissioner once published, he did interview with Atlas, where Teddy gave completely different story than one he told Peter Alson, guy who wrote his bio.

Teddy alos has said he is Romanian, but when he went with Simon Brown to
Hungary for title fight, he made sure media hear dof his 'Hungarian roots" He wound up getting more publicity then Brown, and was treated like celebrity in Hungary (The fight was first pro title fight in Hungary since WW 2, so it was big deal)

It is this way: There is the new York City Golden Gloves, which he never entered (Claimed back hurt when Cus tried to enter him) That si what people think of when anyone says New York Golden Glove champ. Atlas first said he was, then had people answer for him (Something anyone wil see he does a lot) and they say "he won ANOTHER NEW YOTK GOLDEN GLOVES! " atsch


Atlas did not win any New York Golden Gloves, in New York City or upstate. Kevin Rooney did though, before he turned pro.
