SB - I had minor surgery on my elbow in August 2006. I got the call for the opportunity to fight Calzaghe which I just could not refuse. I gave it my all. Calzaghe was a great champion and rose to the occasion. He won a very hard close fight. I’m very proud of my effort

Interested read. I am also waiting opinions from Glen Johnson and Brian Magee on the coming fight Bute vs Froch. Alot of people will tell you that stiles make fights , but I also think Bute will beat Ward.

calzaghe strength was that he could adapt, ATG at it, half way through he could change his style and spoilt his opponents style, ward is also versatile but he lacks stamina so he can't adapt like JC, bute is the best puncher out of the three

i've said all along that there are 2 things that seperate the great from the good at world level

1 - adaptability - the ability to adapt to an opponent in the ring, the ability to find plan B when plan A isn't working well

2 - fighting in adversity - the ability to raise your game another level and produce your best at crucial moments when your in trouble

joe calzaghe was the master of both these traits, where as the likes of roy jones was completely lacking in these fundamental areas.

bute v ward needs to happen. I hope ward steps up to the plate and fights bute, dirrell, and re-matches kessler in the future but i think he will completely duck bute and dirrell.

Bute can also adapt very well as shown in his very own fight with Bika...

Is Sakio still fighting? He's only 32 and theres plenty of fights at 168 I'd like to see him in. Guy is a warrior but he's inactive as hell and he was unlucky in the Mendy fight.

Calzaghe and Ward can both fight in more than 1 style but Calzaghe's ability to adapt is improvisational, he can do it in the moment, midround, while Ward is a guy who comes in with a good gameplan and stratagy but he's more like a soldier following orders. Ward can change gameplans and is well prepared but he can't do it on the spot instinctually the way Joe could. Joe is on a different level from Ward and most everyone else in that regard.

says he really wants to fight Froczowski. I'd love to see that fight but doubt it will happen since Karoly is looking for paydays. Bute Ward or Kessler at 168 and if he loses to Lucian i expect him to go to 175 and look for Pascal or maybe Pavlik before trying to find a name LHW.

I don't understand what is with this period of inactivity at Bika ?! What is the reason ?!

    Bika vs Andre Dirrell
    Bika vs Abraham
    Bika vs Stieglitz
Bika vs Pavlik ; ..... would be great fights for him ! imo

Bika could give troubles to any fighter at 168 / 175 pounds :yep

Especially since Froch kind of dismissed Magee & Johnson from being fair names on Bute's record. Froch-Magee was pretty close over the first 5 rounds, but Froch seems to think it was an easy blowout... as was Johnson.

    :huh :D

Yes. Froch tends to be delusional. he also thinks he lost a very close fight with Ward :))))

How Joe Calzaghe annoyed me to hell I made up game plans what an opponent needed to beat him but he just changed his fighting instanteneously so was so unpredicable probably he would make a good jazz pianist if he got into music for his improvisional skills

This confirms my opinion that Joe was better than he seemed to be, with that slappy style of his.
