His last performance against Vera he showed he can use his boxing brain and wasnt so upright, and the only reason Chavez is so strong is because he outweighs his opponents by 15 - 20 pounds come fight night, this wont be the case against Lee who will be just as big come fight night imo.
Chavez via UD, he wins it clearly imo. I expect Lee to win his fair share of rounds though. Lee is what you would call a good puncher, hes no one punch knockout hitter though, and Chavez is as tough as they come. Andy wont be putting him away anytime.
Vera was never much kop to begin with, losing to him was ridiculous. I don't put much stock in that. The reason for Chavez's strength is irrelevant, I don't think the poundage means much for Lee, fact is he's strong and Lee isn't. Naturally its pretty clear Lee is fairly weak as middleweights go, he wants everything at his distance which is long (to be fair he's decent here), but when somebody is on his chest he's awful. That's likely to be a big problem for him to overcome in this one as well as porous defence and timidity.
Btw, its funny how the general forum and the Brit forum's opinions differ so much. The majority of the General forum go for Lee and most of the Brit forum go for Chavez Id be more inclined to respect boxing opinions not from the general though:deal
I have to say Chavez gotta perform better than he did against Rubio though. That was a crap performance, he didn't let enough go IMO. If he does that again Lee certainly has a shot.
Same could be said for Lee both a prone to the odd under-performance. Sometimes when Lee has success early on he can get get a bit carried and just start throwing big 1-2s that can get a bit predictable. Think if lee is to win his jab, which is good, will have to be on top form.
i will say this if lee is to win he'll have to fight the fight of his life and show us somethings hes never shown us in fights before people might overestimating chavez a bit though he didnt look great against rubio a second tier middleweight he didnt exactly set the house on fire against duddy or zbik who are no great shakes either and jrs power certainly wont affect lee like lees possibly can to jr
Thought this fight would be close, with a lot of rounds being hard to score. See Chavez getting the nod. Still its an interesting fight, hopefully winner faces Martinez.
Yeah but where's the evidence? Fact is lee does have very good natural power in both hands. Very much above the normal middleweight out there today anyway. His only hope of winning against chavez in Texas is to go for the knockout.. I see him maybe flooring chavez late on, with chavez then hanging on to win on points or decision..
in my mind this is a 50/50 fight both fighters are talented and flawed hopefully it results in a great fight
I think Lee has decent power but I guess we will know more over the next 2 years as he steps it up. Chavez has improved a lot over the past 2 years which can't really be disputed. Chavez has also upped his level of opposition. Chavez will be heavier at 180 where I expect Lee to come in around 170. Lee has more skills in my opinion. Chavez is tough though and has really matured. I think if the Lee that fough McEwan fought Chavez than Chavez will really hurt him. Also, if the Lee that rematched Vera shows up than he will hurt and possibly stop Chavez. Its a 50/50 but officially Lee has no chance other than KO (in terms of the judges)
