Why are there only a bunch of guys from the 70's?

I dont know if anyone of them is overrated, but if I were to vote I would go for Foreman. He was kind of sloppy.

Tyson was dominate but lost against two HOF'ers - Holyfield and Lewis. Love watching Tyson but now looking back the only other fighter he fought with significant pedigree was Spinks. Holmes was wayyyyy past his prime.

    Overall, Jack Johnson by far

But out of that list probably Liston since he fought in one **** era and had only 1 title defense and his resume is poor, yet most of the ppl. from classic considers him a legitimate top 10.

All are deserving of praise and accolades that they receive.

Holmes was the last special heavyweight. Of the choices, Tyson takes it.

    Liston:
He trained when he was rising to the top even though he still had his vices. But as far as Heroine...that's debatable. he at least wouldn't have been injecting it. He was scared of needles according to his wife. His drug of choice was alcohol. But who cares. Most Soldiers throughout history have been drunks. Alexander the great was a drunk and was a great soldier.
Mickey Mantle was a drunk and still had a high batting average and hit HR. And a number of Soccer, NFL, NBA, etc. have been friendly with the drink and party life-style and still have been good.

There are A lot of athletes today are pot-heads...NBA, NFL... who like to drink as well. But weed is surely the drug of choice for relaxation time. That and sex but that's another type of drug.

And some athletes, don't care much for nutrition and are still better than those that do. Ex: Chris Carter, great athlete, great WR, extremely disciplined in what he eats and how he trains said Randy Moss was still on another level despite Randy not practicing as hard and would eat junk food before games. Some guys are just on another level no matter what they do. It just tends to catch up with you in the long run.

Like remember who Wlad got beat by...I doubt any of those three were so strict on diet and training as he.

Adamek is a blown up LH, CW at best. Without modern "supplements," Adamek wouldn't be over 200 pounds. While Foreman dieted down to make weight because his trainers thought it better. And he would have destroyed Adamek.

Tyson just sucked post-prison. He lacked discipline, lacked technique, had no game-plan, and just didn't have a desire to be a fighter. He fought to pay back bills, and what he jockingly acknowledged was for weed money. So yeah, post prison Tyson wasn't much on being strict. However, pre-prison, when he was under Rooney, he was very disciplined. And the results showed.
Its discipline what can take you a long way. And if you can top it off with that natural ability, and good surroundings....you have a chance to reach your potential.

Foreman was a better "boxer" in his Older Years. He just didn't have the physical/athletic talent as he did when he was younger. Foreman would walk through today's competition.

    He didn't

LL fought after the 80's..and we all know that boxing died as soon as the last fighters of the golden 70's retired.

Therefore Lennox Lewis was a bum and a disgrace by default.

    J:lol:KING ?

90'S had some good HWs despite what the 60/70's boxers and writers want to admit. Lewis just may have not fought everyone and everyone at their best. Some of it really not his fault. But the 90's era was good.
