    Just curious,

I decided to take boxing more seriously and stopped w/ the backyard sparring and garage heavy bag, and went to an actual gym.

It's been 2 1/2 months now, and I still feel like I'm getting my ass kicked workout wise everyday.

I go about 4-6 days a week. We do 3 minute rounds, 30 second breaks.

    3 rounds jumping rope
    2 rounds shadow boxing
    2 rounds heavy bag
    2 rounds mitts

And then its up to you, I usually do another round of heavy bag and then shadow boxing, and finish up with speedbag or jumprope.

Personally every time I'm on the mitts midway halfway into the 2nd round I feel like **** and can feel myself completely exhausted by the end. I take a round to breathe and then finish my workout but I feel like I might die in just a 3 round match. I was hoping by now I'd get through mitts easier, but it is still a mental battle for me everytime to keep going.

Whats it like for you guys? How hard are your workouts on you? Did you get to the point where you could breeze through the rounds and had to increase them or turn up intensity?

OP: it can be because you're tense. Just relax.

Personally when i started I wanted to impress everyone with hard precise punches, and because I focused so much on that, I became very tense doing mitts.

when i first started i was exhausted on warmups :) after year and half my hardest training (i do them 1-2 times a week) is 3-5 rounds jump rope, 2 rounds shadow, 6-8 sparring, 5 heavy bag and strength excercises after that with stretching. If i dont get exhausted, i wasnt training hard enough :) I have 4-5 boxing trainings per week, other days are for some other sport with 1 day rest, rarely 2 days.

Its all about getting fitter now.. I couldn't jog for 3 minutes when i started and a year and a half later im training 10-12 times a week. Keep your head up, its the heart that keeps you moving forward. Push your body and don't stop when your tired, stop when your done.

Didn't realize how that question sounded lol.

Yeah I think this probably is a factor. My trainer keeps telling me to relax, and I feel like I'm focused to much on hitting hard precise punches.

Going to try and chill out tomorrow, and keep at it.

I work with my trainer about an hour and a half on saturdays. I did 3x jump rope and 2x shadow boxing, first round I started off with 3 pound weights in hand until the last 30 seconds where I had to move faster, lot of jabbing emphasis. Mitts...eesh. I dun even know. When we finally stopped mitts, I had been at the gym for about an hour 15. then i finished with 2x speedbag, 3x heavy, and 2x shadowboxing. It's taken a lot of work on my part committing to my cardio and working with a friend of mine on technique and endurance on mitts and heavy at the gym since we're always so busy at boot camp during the week.

I am really bad but working on it... It ain't so bad if I can go at my own rhytim but something like sparring I gas out really quickly.

The group PT classes are absolutly killing me each time I attend.

my endurance is real good. But it takes time to build up. I have been training for about 7 years now. Once you learn to relax your endurance will increase. Train hard but don't over train.
