As much as i like Mayorga, I believe he was hurt and faked the injury.

You never know but I doubt it. Mayorga lost a lot of weight to fight Cotto (he fought at like 175 a few months before I believe) and was constantly baiting Cotto into corners and doing other stupid ****. I think that Mayorga would have wanted to go the distance. I like Mayorga too, always been a fan of his helicopter rotor style. His fight with Tito was brilliant.

Funny, I remember him receiveing a lot of **** for his efforts at 140. A few points I remember people would point out.

    1) Cotto would rehydrate up 154 for 140 pound fights. He is a weight cutter and once he faces some one his own size....blah blah blah

    2) Cotto struggled with Lovemore N'dou and had to run to survive.

    3) Cotto won a vacant title, never beat a Champion or at least title holder. Kelson Pinto is still never has been.

    4) Cotto went life and death with a Columbian no hopper who most never heard of.

5)Cotto sat ringside for a Mayweather fight and then ducked PBF twice at 140 after he seen his boy Brussles catch a ass whipping.

    6) Cotto never fought the tops guys at 140 at the time, Tszyu, Hatton, Vivian Harris or Sharba Mitchell when they were champs.

    7) Cotto is another Top Rank fighter manuvered to a vacant title. Cotto is not Tito. Tito would have killed Cotto wait until he fights a real Welterweight, You'll see.

    8) They also said he was chinny at 140, almost forgot.

    How history changes.

Was he the last prospect to eventually deliver a HOF worthy resume and career? I can't think of a young fighter whose fought their way to the top similarly.

The SMW torunament fast tracked him to the top. But that worked out great for Ward. He fought the top guys and proved himself. :good

Despite his apparently steady progression by the time Cotto fought Margarito he still haden't mastered the clinch and for me, that sealed the loss.

Good one! He hasn't got the fame Cotto does yet, but he's practically king of his division and still has a lot left to go.

Khan has the potential, but has yet to deliver comparable greatness.

It is either odd or a statement on boxing and titles today that Cotto has only beaten one reigning champ. He has always been in good, big fights and defended his straps against some big names.

    1. most fighters cut weight to make weight and rehydrate to a higher weight.

    2. cotto barely lost a round. he broke ndou's ribs. lovemore is no joke.

    3. yuri foreman, the guy pac wanted no part of, is the guy cotto beat for his current title. cotto did what he was supposed to...he demolished pinto.

    4. cotto stopped ricardo torres who was undefeated at the time.

    5. cotto seemed unimpressed. brusselles is no cotto.

    6. cotto would have destroyed tszyu, hatton, harris and mitchell. where are they now?

    7. pretty much any fighter that is at the top has been carefully maneuvered to that position. it speaks volumes about the fighters themselves that they passed most if not all the tests along the way.

usually...when a fighter dehydrates to make a weight that is no longer healthy...their punch resistance goes down.

    educate urself.

khan is what he is...a professional that still fights like an amateur. he needs to do some serious learning to resurrect his career.

Damn I thought I was going to have a decent boxing convo until the end when I read "educate urself"

I see reading comprehension is not easy for you. I was pointing out how at the time Cotto had a lot of detractors regarding his run at 140.

But no good convo from you, just another dick rider.

    btw...judge: Glenn Trowbridge 117-111 | judge: Dalby Shirley 115-113 | judge: Carol Castellano 116-112

lol Cotto barely lost a round....
