Fair point, but cant see ****** winning a purse bid or putting his hand in.his pocket to bring him over
Before Groves pulled out of the March 16th, everybody couldn't wait for this fight :huh Now everybody is complaining? I agree, Anderson doesn't deserve a World Title Shot, but while Groves may have the beating of Stieglitz, it won't give us a decent measuring stick against the rest of the division as Stieglitz himself hasn't really shown anything of an elite quality. IMO, the only issue I have is that after Adam Booth preaching that once Groves got the chance to fight for a World Title, he would have improved to the point where he would be able to stay there. In the mean time they would take 'stressful' domestic/ European bouts to test and improve George. This clearly isn't the case as if they scalp the title, they will be dipping back down to domestic level, until Groves can compete with the elite. Personally, I have no problem with Groves v Anderson II. But I agree Anderson isn't worthy of a world title shot yet, still, much better him than some discreet opponent who 'has never been stopped' which we are usually used to.
This 'not deserving' thing is silly, George is the same fighter with the same ability that he was before he signed to fight Steelguts. Whichever belt is on the line is irrelevant.
I said back when the Anderson Groves bout was cancelled that if Groves wins the belt he will defend against Anderson first.
I think Groves has more then a chance against Stieglitz. He's a solid fighter but i've not been overly impressed with Robert.
Guys the article says nothing about Kenny fighting for a world title. They have mentioned nothing about giving Kenny a shot if they win. He has said the 'British Title' v Groves has been rescheduled for June 30th. A simple tactic to hold onto the British. Any boxing fan can see that fight with Kenny won't happen 6 weeks after a world title fight. Especially with his dodgy back.
George is a Gentleman though, that's why he's called Gentleman George around here. Of course he'll come back and fulfill his mandatory... But nah in all seriousness Kevin's right, the belt's gonna be sat on. Frank's trying to play it smart with this article. Hope the board see sense..
