Bute very fast, very patient, good stamina, southpaw, more acccustomed to the weight


however, Taylor has more experience. Bute has only had 21 fights to Taylor's, and Taylor has fought much stiffer opposition.

That's a tough question. I'm yet to see Taylor fighting at full 168 but at 164 his speed, accuracy and even the punching power was there, he was landing some real hard shots, and as I've said several times, it was Pavlik's punch output that won the fight... any other guy with less punches thrown would've ended up a loser against Jermain, and that's pretty impressive after a huge KO loss...

Bute is very good, speedy, got the defense and the power and as I've said I have to see Taylor at full 168 but back with Ozell and at full confidence I'd pick Taylor by close UD in an exciting and hard fight. Bute hasn't performed on the highest level yet, Taylor is exactly 2 levels higher in competition anyone Lucian has ever fought, so it's hard to tell exactly how good he is. But he's pretty good if you ask me.

This fight is very realistic for both fighters. Bute is a rising star who is a legit top 5 SMW, facing a former undisputed world champion that showed some much need improvement, a win for both fighters at this stage of their carrers would be huge.

I favor Taylor slightly with his experience, and he showed some ability to adapt last night, but this is pretty much a 50/50 fight.

 

I don't know. I wouldn't be so quick to write off Jermain. I feel he could beat Lucien.

 

Give Taylor some easy fight first. Then he will be back in the mix. I cant say who will win.

 

Bute UD

 

He fought Bika and won an easy decison.

 

berrio is most probably tied with froch as the biggest 1 punch fighter in the division and bute was able to take his power, no reason to suspect that miranda would blow bute away, and IMO bute would beat miranda on technical abilty and speed.

 

I haven't watched enough Taylor to really be certain of my answer. Nor have we seen Bute against borderline elite opposition yet to know how he'd look, so I am weary of picking a winner.

Bute's defence is not so hot and he'd get hit by Taylor's superior, faster shots, especially when they fight in the middle of the ring, closer together. Taylor is faster fullstop. On the other hand, Taylor's defence is not great either and Bute's southpaw stance would cause Taylor the biggest problems. Bute is not as good a boxer but he is probably a better tactician and, after losing the first couple of rounds, would probably adjust somewhat and possibly even take the initiative. Both love to counterpunch so it might end up a cat and mouse fight. Bute seems to find the better distance, even though Taylor's foot positioning/footwork seems better. Taylor wouldn't stop Bute, I don't think. Bute would have a better chance to stop Taylor. I think Bute would stay as much as possible on the outside, go to the body and try to push Taylor backwards against the ropes, opening up on him like he did against Bika and Berrio from rounds 10/11 onwards. Taylor would try and pick Bute apart fighting in the middle of the ring, moving quickly left and right, as he did in rounds 3-7 so well against Pavlik II. I don't know who would win; I guess it depends a lot on how well they enforce a winning strategy on the night, because both could beat the either. If I had to, I'd pick Taylor in a close decision. I haven't seen Bute fight a motivated fighter of the calibre of Taylor yet to see what he would be like...

The thing about Berrio is that, for all his deficiencies, he was a hell of a puncher, but not just that...he was a dangerous puncher, setting up traps for his opponents, taking them by surprise - that is partly why his punch was so much deadlier than the others', irrespective of how hard it was. Miranda might hit hard (although I don't think he hits as hard by any means) but he doesn't set those subtle traps like Berrio did - so his punch is bound to be less dangerous, I think. Anyway...how Miranda would fare against Bute is a different story. This thread is about Taylor and Bute.:good
