I was watching this fight again yesterday and even though Geale won quite clearly there was a few tight rounds. In all honesty, i expected Sylvester to get a Sauerland robbery. I mean honestly, Geale is one of the only fighters I can think of that has gone to Germany, beaten a German fighter for a title, a fighter promoted by Sauerland and got away with a points decision. Geale did the seemingly impossible.

Was it wrong of me to assume Geale would get robbed?

Yep...fighting in Germany is usually disastrous, they are unashamed cheats.

Yep when they showed 1 of the judges scorecards and it was for Geale I was shocked.

The Danish judge! I think he had it 110-118 to Sylvester, hence the SD. Pretty concerning. Without a power punch, Geale is going to find himself relying on impartial and capable judges scoring throughout his career. It helps to be able to take fights out of the scorers hands with a nice ko or tko sometimes.

Yeah Shaw made sure he got 2 impartial judges. As long as that keeps happening he should be alright.

It was a few months after Huck-Lebedev. Sauerland was in trouble, because of the robbery. I think, Geales win happend in satisfaction for this fight. And as justification for later robberys.

Any time any foreign fighter is fighting a German on German soil you anticipate the worst. When something happens again and again you come to expect it.

I definately thought Geale would get robbed. A lot of rounds were close but Geale finished the stronger. Hats of to 2 of th ejudges. The 3rd judge's scorecard is exactly what this thread is about.

People bag on guys like Roy for ducking certain German fighters ie Michalczewski but those guys never fought outside Germany and Roy had already been robbed badly at the Olympics and promised never again. I can tell you what, if Calzaghe vs Kessler had happened in a Sauerland location we would have a different winner
