Duran is a quitter. Why do people like him so much?

I think Duran is an extremely diligent, smart, strong fighter but he's lacking that special something you call heart.

He gave up due to embarrassing in the BIGGEST fighter of his career. He let us all down. That's all.

He's still going to be remembered as one of the greatest to ever lace on a pair of gloves... but this quit job will haunt him for life. It will be the asterisk to his achievements for the rest of boxing history.

This is why I will never rank Duran over Leonard ever. Leonard will always be miles ahead of him in heart, determination, and as a boxer.

This is something that I can agree with. part of me thinks that the reason why he kept on fighting for as long as he did was because he was somehow trying to make up for it.

If you knew anything about boxing which you clearly do not, a rubber match is the 3rd meetng between two figters you ****, not the second which the No Mas fight was.
I suggest you buy a few more back copies of KO and the ring magazine and come back in a year or ten .. :hi::hi:

And so was Tyson, a front runner who feasted on inexperienced journeymans, whose best win is against 105 years Holmes, and who got destroyed as soon as he met real opposition.

One bad night doesn't obliterate a long career of great performances. Duran fought - and beat - people who were bigger and supposedly more talented. Few other boxers have done that.

..............It certainly doesn't take away all his other performances. But it certainly WILL put a HUGE asterisk alongside his great achievements for years to come. He disregarded his people, all the fans and everyone who believed in him in his biggest fighter as a professional. You cannot do that as a prized fighter. That's it. Duran was great, an amazing boxer but he had no heart. None at all.

Taking the UD loss would have been 10x more rewarding to everyone including himself. Quitting to embarrassment is just disgraceful.

While the OP is an obvious troll, the sad thing is that there are some morons out there who think that No Mas taints his entire career.

It was one fight against a far hungrier ATG, where Duran's preparation had been diabolical. Duran proved his heart throughout his career, whether it be getting up off the deck against Dejesus, even attempting to get off the deck after Hearns knocked his head into the third row, or out-toughing the much bigger Barkley when supposedly shot.

Go watch Davey Moore vs Roberto Duran and then ask that question.
