Does Rahman have a chance against Povetkin?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by KINGOFTHE1ROUND, Apr 18, 2012.

  1. Huck almost dropped him twice and clearly won that fight. Rahman is far stronger than Huck and bigger but is old. Povetkin likes fighting old guys huh?
But anyway,I give an in shape Rahman at least a 45% chance of winning against Povetkin. The Lewis punch will hurt him bad, that's for sure.

    What do you guys think?

Old man Rock or puffy Russian slob?

Rock is too far past it. Povetkin will break him down and stop him

  4. That Huck fight lingers on in my mind. The kid was killing Povetkin.

Huck was a physical brawler who liked to mix it up and was faster than povetkin....hardly the case with mr rahman

unless rahman is totally motivated and in shape and well prepared he probably loses

i mean rahman would have to do everything right and povetkin would have to be as bad as he was vs huck or worse

if povetkin doesnt have atlas rahman may have a shot

The problem Povetkin was having with Huck was that Huck was in superb shape and essentially wore him out. Povetkin didn't take Huck seriously and didn't train seriously. I doubt Rahman will be able to do that with his workrate. Also Huck seems to smother Povetkin's punches and limited there effectiveness that way. I think Povetkin will be able to get off on Rahman and will TKO him around 8.

The weigh in will tell us a lot. If Rahman is below 240 he is really serious and it gets interesting. He is way too slow when he is heavy.

Bit of stretch using the word clearly. Most people thought Povetkin had done enough to get the nod.

As for Rahman I see him as pretty old and damaged. I am going to guess he gets stopped around seven or eight, but maybe even earlier. At this point I don't think he can rejuvenate himself enough to go 12 and show the skill and power he used to poses.

I think I would give Rahman about a 20% shot of victory here. You can never rule out a win for a former champ that carries such one punch KO power. Rahman knows this is his last chance so we can be sure he will come into this fight in perfect hulk like shape.

Imagine this colossus of a man even at 39 in the pre Louis days. He would have squashed everybody like insects.

I think Povetkin takes this pretty handy...either by stoppage in the 10th or if Rock can survive then 116-112 type UD

No, I can't see that he has much of a chance. People are also putting too much emphasis on what weight Rahman comes in at.

Answer me one question: when was the last time Rahman had a notable win?

Rahman is going to be soundlly beaten.
