Rumour has it Richard Williams is making a comeback at Middleweight and has been training at Rooneys Gym in Bermondsey. I was a big fan of the secret but how do you rate his chances of making a succesful comeback and what can he achieve. i met him at my 2nd amateur fight at a show at earlsfield in 2008 was a lovely fella and gave me some good advice and encouragement. Met the man, from SW was a hero to me. A gentleman of the highest order. Remember being a shy 12 year old walking up for a autograph. None of that cockyness and arrogance just a humble guy. I was really happy to hear he was working with the youth in Southwark. I did wonder if he was getting back into boxing, heard a rumor a while back. As Jeff says he's gonna struggle if that's not sorted. One of best technical fighters we had at that time. Sadly he was matched badly against Martinez who they brought over as a another guy. What a guy he'd go on to be. Good luck to the secret.
What breathing problem? I was gutted when he lost to Martinez, I thought Williams would be in some big fights, sadly only Locket got one from that era and he was just a lamb to the slaughter. That LM era is the blueprint for how not to do things.
Strange really you had him with his issues and Lockett who terrible problems with health due to his pillows. He was allergic to the feather's and IIRC had to have a plastic cover over them. For all stick Lockett got in his pomp that guy could of done some damage, The Pavlik fight came at backend of career and not at his best fighting weight. I know many disliked his display. I think his mindset was on property at that point..
