Thats not what I meant, I know that thats not the criteria...I was merely stating that in my opinion Matthews would have finished it the next time he went seriously on the offensive. Definately an early stoppage but I don't think that it ultimately affected anyones win/loss column.

Anyone watch Barrera replay on Box Nation?

    Serious beating over 3 minutes.

You know what's strange about Crolla though.. I still reckon Crolla would've given Erik Morales a good fight.

Yep Trot, I'm not defending the stoppage just pointing out that the time left in the round isn't a factor when the ref is deciding whether to step in or not.

the crolla - mathews fight is certainly a big domestic upset , i had the fight 47-47 at time of stoppage and the fight i think was stopped far too early as there were only seconds left in the round.

degale i have to say got rid of a guy who many thought would take him late in the fight and even to points...30-27 at time of stoppage

jamie moore was spot on when talking about the stoppage , he said that he could have understood the stoppage if the fight had been one sided. It wasnt and it was a premature stoppage.

I'm not sure we learned from the DeGale fight- here's hoping he fights someone in the world top ten next time.

I've got a funny feeling about DeGale....He looks great when he's absolutely on top but a bit ragged when its coming back at him. I'm sorry to say, and its a terrible cliche but he looks like a horrid KO waiting to happen.....and given his status its likely to be live on national TV

Been my view of him from way before the Groves fight. He's stuck in a horrible between-styles way of fighting. McDonnell is a poisonous influence on the guy.

I still don't rate DeGale tbh. He's just.. not that good. :conf

But he got the stoppage win tonight and that's all he could do for now. Hopefully he gains a bit of confidence from this and can put some decent form together.

he isn't that good - this "potential" so many people see in him is entirely fictional. He's decent but he wouldn't have much of a hope against anyone in the top ten of the division (and unlike The Ring, I think George Groves has no place anywhere near the top ten).

Maybe in two years time, when he's sorted out his glaring flaws he might fight a top three guy and compete, but he's nowhere near that level right now.
