Pavlik vs. Taylor 2 : My scorecard!!!!

i'm a taylor fan but i thought pavlik won, he was the better conditioned fighter.

 

foolish card IMO jermain won it by one round on mine. how anyone could give it pavlik by six rounds is beyond me:admin

 

I need to re-watch the fight because I was pretty drunk, but I scored 115-113 Taylor. We also had a few 115-113 for Taylor, one draw, and a 116-112 for Taylor. We were all drunk and maybe a little biased since we wanted to see a 3rd fight.

 

Anyone who had the fight for Taylor has an agenda. Pavlik landed far many more blows, look at Taylor's head get knocked back, look at the swelling of his face, but Pavlik not only threw many more punches, he "landed" more punches and he kept pushing Taylor back. The decision is a no-brainer. I wish Pavlik had gone ahead and finished Taylor off to shut up those who are so blindly prejudiced against Pavlik. I wonder if the same ones had Taylor winning their first fight! I had the fight 117-111 easily.

 

Im a fan of both fighters and had Taylor winning, thought he landed the cleaner shots even though Pav outworked him . .. also thought Taylors jab was more effective and his lateral movement kept Pav from landing clean most of the night. Ill re-evaluate when they replay it.

 

watched it with 5 other Pavlik fans who all went outside after the final bell pissed because Pavlik had lost a unanimous decision only to come back inside to a pavlik win, we all wanted a Pavlik win but not like this

 

Everyone was talking about Pavlik outjabbing Taylor, it was Pavlik's jab that helped win him the fight, but when a fighter lands so many more blows there is no other way it should be judged. If we were to say, from now on, that the fighter who lands fewer blows, less power punches, jabs, is knocked back, etc., then we need to go back and change a lot of other decisions. Taylor's face also shows a lot. Even Harold Ledermann had the fight for Pavlik and he hates Pavlik. Look at Taylor's head being knocked back, it was awesome.

you're all missing the the boat kelly clearly won the fight, to quote lennox lewis, "look at the state of his face!"

kellys' punches landed on the target, what most of you fail to see is that, like Wlad---especially an early Wlad---kelly parries punches, while taylors punches were flashy a huge amount were blocked and deflected.

thankfully the judges saw this and scored the fight for pavlik.

Yes, 117-111 was a fair score. That fight was not even close.

I consider 115-113 Pavlik way too close. Be careful while listening to Harold Ledermann, he hates Pavlik. It was Ledermann who had Quintana losing to Williams. Funny, while Quintana was banging William's head, Ledermann was talking like an idiot, same with the Pavlik fight. Pavlik's punches were way harder than Taylor's, Pavlik beat Taylor to the jab, power punches, pressing the fight, Hell, Pavlik was making the fight.

 

I've only seen the fight live, and haven't yet seen it on the TV, and even though the crowd was like 80-20 pro Pavlik, I seriously scored the fight 7-5 for Taylor...

It was a close fight but. Certainly no robbery... Apart from the scorecards. Which DEFINATELY surprised me.

When a fighter is that much more accurate then the other (I must admit, I was probably a bit pissed, cause I didn't see Pavlik throw 850 punches... credit where credit's due), but either way, when I heard the scorecard of 117-111, the first thing I thought was... It has to be Jermain.

But then again, if you look at the fighters I tend to like, they are more often then not "accurate" punches that pick their shots with speed etc... (Floyd, Roy, Mundine) and don't tend to really favour the whole throwing a hundred punches a round and landing only 10...

Not a robbery but (good fight too, but maybe moreso cause i was the only pro-taylor guy surrounded by 50 pro-pavlik people)

To right Taylor off would be silly, though.

 

Pavlik landed way too many punches for that fight to have been scored close. That fight should be replayed this weekend, so take another look.

 

:good I certainly will... From where I was, I didn't see Pavlik landing that many of his punches (not 30% of 850, anyway)... But from the closer angle of the camera man (on TV), maybe I'm wrong!

Either or, I think the fight was close. Even the 50 pro-pavlik people around me were slightly nervous too (which means live, it didn't look like a Pavlik blowout; that seems to be the same for TV too). The guy next to me even returned the $100 I gave him from the bet we made pre-fight because he disagreed with the scorecards so much (he still scored it for Pavlik though)

 

Take another look ourself, but this time try to count the number of times Pavlik's punches land on Taylor's guard.

I guarantee you will lose count.
