I happen to completely agree with this post.Hamed never learned the technical aspect of the sport despite having terrific power and handspeed,as well as having some reflexes.However,his unorthodoxy in the ring matched his personality.He wouldn't have been "the prince" had he fought in a less flashy manner,but more technically sound.This is why I laugh when his serious defenders use the whole "he left Ingle" excuse while Ingle encouraged his unorthodoxy.You're statement,"It is what it is," is most appropriate under the circumstances.Cheers.

 

One of the best moves ever, he schooled him during a fight and put him in his place with that move class, just showed that he is the boss!!!

 

There are far,far more Hamed fans on these boards that overhype and make excuses for their her than those that "rate him roughly,correctly" as you put it.Just read the threads,.The "minority" as you put it are the ones that fill these threads with the excuses.Quite funny(and appropriate)that you choose to respond to me and not them in your attempt to be polite.Again,if you find me irrational please don't respond to my irrationality.I don't mind.I call him a hypejob when his fans make excuses for his losing to easily the best fighter he ever fought while those fans claim him to be this great fighter even though he did nothing to prove it.To me,that's the textbook definition of a hypejob.As far as Lacey is concerned,once again,I'd never heard of him before the JC fight and I'm a New Yorker,and the media is very prominent here.And as far as discrediting his accomplishments,just where am I wrong?I always write that his resume is pretty good at best.How is that discrediting his accomplishments?Do you agree or disagree?Oh wait,don't bother responding to my irrationality.

 

You can always tell alot about a dude that gets a little coin and the first thing he does is get himself a white girl.

 

Funny part is,he knew how easily he embarrassed Hamed and was willing to give up the scoring point to embarrass him further knowing how far up he was

 

If Naz hadn't spent the entire night trying to land bombs he may have made a better fight of it from what I remember

Naz wasn't good enough that night, simple. Would he have ever been good enough to beat Barrera? Some think so, I personally don't but Barrera didn't 'school' him as some like to make out.

Nothing polarises like a Hamed debate !!!

I'm not going to argue the guys resume cos you can pick holes in his and others... but the guy knew how to entertain! Boxing was mainstream and fun when he was on the scene. Americans only got to know him from the Kelly fight, I remember the early days when the show was on, the Prince be dancing to the ring, the crowd chanting and having a great time, and then the audacious flair in the ring followed by a stunning knockout, and then the entertaining post fight boasts.

I personally think if it wasn't Barrera it would have been another well scholled fighter who would have exposed him as the work ethic had left him (see documentary "Little Prince, Big Fight")

Ultimately the Man gave the fans what they wanted and inspired a generation of fighters. I think we fans shouldn't be too critical, although he was nowhere near the twighlight of his career when he jacked it in. IMO - waste of talent, but an abundance of it pre-America.
