DANA WHITE VS. FEDOR FANS "@danawhite "over for Fedor" ***** Fedor would stomp Nelson the fat **** for breakfast, impale JDS for dinner and snap Velasquez for supper.." -Fedor Fan called "JesusMMA" "and get KTFO by an 85lber in the 1st round and triangled by a HW. Calm down Jesus" -Dana White "@danawhite Fedor went 10 years undefeated, one little blip he had, and that's all you can talk about. He'd decimate the UFC HW division." -Fedor Fan called "JesusMMA" "couple of blips there Jesus." -Dana White "did u ever get to talk to fedor or was it just his management? the amount was similar to brocks?" -Another Random Fan "yes fedor too" -Dana White
Fedor is not at his prime, but at his prime he has been the best mma fighter ever. Dana is bitter he never had him in the UFC, probably because he is a bit of a control freak.
Fedor v Brock wasn't appealing to me at all. All the UFC fanboys really let themselves down then getting all hyped for an undefeated veteran of Fedors calibre vs a relatively inexperienced rookie. Inb4 'well put them in the octagon and we'll see who the rookie is' well that was always past the point and most of the interesting HW talent wasn't even in the UFC at the time. I always supported Fedor for dissing the UFC. I can't remember the specifics now but the concern over Danas business ethics was always a top priority. Fedor always an outspoken critic of the UFCs expansion, the acquisition of the ATG it seemed more like a personal vendetta and donald trump-esqe ego boost for Dana. He didn't treat the opportunity with the integrity it deserved more like some mafioso character trying to lure Fedor in a trap more than a progressive move for the benefit of the sport. Always said **** Dana, if Fedor went to the UFC now it would be under a different pretext and it wouldn't be hard to watch. Fedor was to lose eventually, anyone thinking Jon Jones will go undefeated is probably still sending letters to santa claus.
This is a perfect example of why these damn Fedor threads suck because revisionist history is never ending when it comes to Fedor. How about listing all of the top heavyweights in the UFC at that time and those out of the UFC at that time and we'll break down the ranking for you?
You probably wouldnt want to do that because the UFC heavy division was a farce. Just admit it Sugar..You're a UFC joyboy :yep
The argument for Fedor not signing is kind of undermined by what did happen. He got subbed by a guy that has never been close to a champion, GNP'd by a guy that has never been close to being a champion and sparked out by a much smaller guy all under the Strikeforce banner. It's all well and good to say he did the right thing by not signing because you hate the UFC/Dana. But in reality it was the worst possible decision they could have made.
Awesome way over over simplifying one of the BEST grapplers in the world, a top 10 300lb heavyweight, and a lock for the HOF who's easily one of the top 5 ATG's P4P. Fedor got old. The guys been doing this for close to 20 years. Fans need to realise that their 'hero's are human too. There's no shame whatsoever in having a run like Fedor's and then loosing towards the back end of his career. If so called fans and Dana can gloat over his demise -the GOAT- then they're obviously not fans. Additionally im sure if Fedor needed the UFC's money he would have signed. Turns out he's already a multi-millionaire.
Not only just about money though is it. He lost his competitive edge or hunger in those fights, at least that's how it looked to me. I am not oversimplifying his competition in Strikeforce as much as people are oversimplifying the UFC HW division as was. If Werdum can sub him, maybe Mir could, if Bigfoot can GNP him, maybe Carwin could (well, it seemed possible at the time) if Hendo can spark him then Cain and JDS deffo could. I am not oversimplifying it or saying he should or shouldn't have signed really. But people that just defend every thing Fedor ever did is a bit ridiculous. I bet with hindsight, if they had their time again they'd at least reconsider it. Every one of those losses was an upset. So when he went into those fights he was expected to win. This is FEDOR we are talking about.
Great fighters loose towards to their end of their careers. It is what it is. I dont know why fans feel the need to dissect it so much. Yes he lost but prior to that he had a 10 year run unbeaten. NO ONE in the history of the sport has had a run like that at such a high level.
Well, that's not really up for debate is it? No one is questioning his career, only the decision not to sign for the UFC. I just think that the argument that he didn't need the money doesn't hold much water because if that was the case why did he fight in Strikeforce? If it was for the challenge of it why not sign to the UFC which I think held a biggers challenge and must have been worth more money anyway? I think M1 let personal issues interfere with business decision and it was a mistake. No biggie, but it was. People that cannot even remotely consider that as a possibility are deluded UFC haters Fedor nuthuggers.
Only Fedor can answer what his motivation is/was. He obviously likes the competition and loves to fight so id imagine it was probably that. That said the UFC has NEVER been cordial with him. He didn't play to Dana's tune and like a spurned girlfriend he got bitter and now gloats over Fedor's losses and expects recompense. I wouldn't blame him at all for his refusal to deal with them. Ironic to note that not once has Fedor publicly berated the UFC. Very obvious difference in class there.
Subbed by the multiple time and the then current time ADCC champion, who let me remind you also pointed out that Fedor was very hard to sub and tried to counter his subs multiple times. Fedor got GnP by a guy 60lbs heavier than him, but at the end of the round Fedor was actually going for the sub himself. Fedor looked like he had more energy to go the third and final round. The fight was stopped because of a cut, a cut that can happen at any time, and a cut that did not seriously/long term injure Fedor. Fedor was sparked by a much smaller guy? was Hendo actually MUCH smaller? Fedor was dominating that fight UNTIL that lucky and very unusual punch. You point all these out when it comes to Fedor but you dont point this out when it comes to a UFC great, someone like ANDERSON SILVA who lost just as many times against lesser opponents.
Not only the GOAT in MMA but also the GOAT in Sambo/Combat Sambo, and also reached the pinnacle in Judo. So fight wise, I would even say that Fedor has 20 times more fights than someone like JDS. All these fights do put allot of strain on the body and mentally. Its amazing how much Fedor has achieved. His past achievements cant be rubbed out because he lost a couple of fights, the same as Aleksander Karelin's achievements cant be erased because of his loss in 2000 Olympics.
