Isn't it ironic that Wladimir was supposed to be "fed" to Peter?

Both of them never looked back after this fight. They just went in the opposite directions.

    According to who? Based on what? Haye's a good fighter, but I don't think he's a HOF'er.

I remember Larry "Where's the bar" Merchant saying "Death wish" when asked why Wladimir took this fight.

HBO was really wanting a big win for Peter......

It must have been hard for any non-hater to not become a fan of Wlad's after the first Peter fight. Great fight and a fine example of not only surviving against all odds but winning fairly while doing so (and after so many of Peter Rabbit's signature behind-the-head blows).

This was to be peters coming out party, wlad to me was there to lose, peter was geting passed the 'tourch" so to speak. Wlad stole it, ha ha ha ha

It wasn't so ironic at the time. In 2005, Vlad was still recovering from his KO losses to Sanders and Brewster. In his lone (during that period) win over a semi-big name -- TOS Williamson -- Vlad looked shaky. The sense was that Vlad might be ready to go.

By contrast, Peter was looking lightning fast and powerful as hell.

In retrospect, I think it's a shame that referee Randy Neuman credited Peter with a couple of knockdowns which, in fact, were not really knockdowns at all.

On the other hand, Vlad was saved by the bell in round 10, I think. Peter was then saved by the bell in round 12.

Overall, a nice win for the ATG Vladimir.
